OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Integrated Youth Programme works with local youth service providers, NHS partners and early intervention programmes to support young people ages 11 – 25 who are Not in Education, Employment or Training, or at risk of becoming NEET,to engage with activities and programmes at the gallery, in school settings and in the community, with the aim of supporting young people to develop life skills, personal resilience and nurture and develop their creativity.

In an exciting time for the Learning team, THW is launching ambitious new strands to the existing Integrated Youth Programme that will see new work developed with inclusion units and PRU’s, weekend taster sessions and extended courses at the gallery and artist residency schemes, in addition to the existing programme of weekly drop-in sessions.

The Youth Programme Coordinator will work with the Senior Learning Manager to devise, deliver and evaluate the Integrated Youth Programme, and oversee the day-to-day functions of the programme. This will include supervising a team of freelance artists. A vital element of this role is maintaining and developing effective partnerships with other services including local Youth Services, post-16 training providers, NHS partners and schools and Pupil Referral Units.

MAIN TASKS

  • Work with the Senior Learning Manager to research, develop and evaluate the Integrated Youth Programme.
  • Build effective and sustained relationships with the local council, school inclusion units, PRU’s, NHS partners and local youth providers.
  • Coordinate all strands of the Integrated Youth Programme, being responsible for the smooth running of all day-to-day activities.
  • Work with freelance artists to co-develop content for all activities.
  • Develop an artist residency scheme with local partners.
  • Identify and coordinate training for freelance artists relevant to the project.
  • Coordinate annual showcase events of participants work e.g. end of year exhibitions
  • Work collaboratively with curators and the Learning team to engage young people with exhibitions and interpretation projects.
  • Work with the Learning Administrator to ensure that Learning data (bookings, attendance, evaluations and questionnaires) is accurately collected, and well-presented and statistical information is provided in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Work with the Communications team to create effective marketing strategies.
  • Monitor and control the expenditure associated with the Integrated Youth Programme.
  • Ensure rooms are set up and ready for artists with the assistance of the Learning Administrator.
  • Keep up to date with recent developments and research in gallery learning, and identify opportunities to present learning from the Integrated Youth Programme at professional events and through publications.
  • Contribute to the development of public programme events.
  • Attend offsite events and workshops where appropriate.
  • Maintain and improve efficiency and effectiveness wherever possible.
  • Support event management administration and bookings as required.
  • Ensure high levels of customer care at all times.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

Regular weekend and evening work will be required for which time off in lieu will be offered.

BASIC TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • This is a fixed-term position for four years
  • The salary for this post is £22,000 per annum
  • 25 days paid leave per annum (pro rata) increasing a day a year to a maximum of 28 days. The leave year runs from 1 March to 31 April.
  • New employees will be auto-erolled into a pension scheme.
  • Probationary period of 6 months.
  • Notice period 1 week during the probationary period, rising to one month following successful completion of probationary period.
