Description of the unit / department: / The Trócaire office in Northern Ireland is based in King Street, Belfast. Trócaire conducts a wide range of activities in Northern Ireland including Supporter Services, Fundraising & Marketing, Development Education, Communications, Institutional Funding, Advocacy and Campaigning.
Background to the Role: / This role will lead out on schools and church outreach to support the Lenten campaign in Northern Ireland, deliver high quality logistical support to Trócaire’s public fundraising campaigns, and provide fundraising, marketing and administrative support to the Donor Services Officer and the Marketing Officer.
Reporting to: / Donor Services Officer with dotted line to Marketing Officer
Managing: (Individuals/Team) / Not regular but will be required to manage casual staff during Global Gift, as well as supervise and coordinate student and work placements.

Location of[1] Position / Belfast with frequent travel within Northern Ireland and to head office in Maynooth.
Scope of the Role: / The Fundraising & Donors Assistant will operate as part of the Donor Services team and will work closely with other members of the Belfast office.
Safeguarding[2] Children Policy: / No unsupervised contact.
Key Duties & Responsibilities / Deliver high quality outreach to schools, with an emphasis on the post-Lent period. It is envisaged that this post will involve significant travel and time out of the office during the months March – June.
Manage all incoming school visit requests during the post-Lent period.
Coordinate church outreach during Lent, and to play a lead role in delivering that outreach, which is generally on weekends and evenings.
Deliver logistical support to ensure key Trócaire campaigns are rolled out in the Northern Ireland region.
Manage relationships with key third party suppliers, including Call Centres, Mailing and Fulfilment agencies to ensure logistical elements of fundraising campaigns are delivered within agreed service levels and to a high standard.
Support the work of the Donor Services Officer as requested, to include specific responsibilities in relation to MIS (Salesforce)
Use MIS to extract lists, run reports and conduct analysis to enable ongoing monitoring of Trócaire’s fundraising efforts.
Work with the Marketing Officer to plan, oversee and review all aspects of fundraising events across the north of Ireland.
Support the work of the Marketing Officer as requested, to include proactively researching and identifying opportunities to enhance and strengthen fundraising campaigns to grow income and build stakeholder engagement.
Respond to requests from individuals, groups, schools, parishes or companies seeking to raise funds or run events for Trócaire
Ensure all stakeholder interaction is recorded properly on Salesforce.
Assist the work of the Donor Services team as and when directed
Managing relations with community fundraisers, ensuring all community fundraising activity is adequately supported, and to grow support from existing community fundraisers.
Lead on the design, delivery and evaluation of annual Supporters’ Mass in November.
Coordinate all student and work placement requests, ensuring appropriate programmes are put in place.
Assist the Marketing Officer in the management of volunteers, and to contribute to the ongoing development of Trócaire’s volunteer strategy. Ensure volunteers are adequately supported.
Assist in the design of outreach programmes for visiting partners and staff.
Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Flexibility of the post holder is required in providing administrative support to other parts of the department or organisation when required at a similar level. This may as a necessity be at short notice. Further mobility is also required across the organisation to any department should the needs of the organisation require it. The responsibilities of this role may be reviewed and changed from time to time as the needs of the organisation change, such changes may be short or long term.
Person Specification – Essential Requirements (E)
(E) Qualification /
  • 5 GCSEs, 3 A-levels or equivalent

(E) Experience /
  • At least two years’ experience of delivering outreach with schools and / or churches
  • At least two years’ experience of working with databases.
  • IT literate with contemporary experience of using IT packages & systems
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment
