Job Title:Adult Worker, Child & Family Centre

Reports To:Project Manager

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the ProjectManager, and in conjunction with the other project teamsand external agencies, theAdult Worker is responsible for developing the work with parents/carers and family members in the community by offering information, advocacy, advice and support in an effort to lead families to long term sustainability rather than short term fixes. The Adult worker will work with individuals and/or groups in a variety of settings to enable them to move forward in their own personal development and family life.

Essential Job Functions:

  • To spend quality time building trust relationships with people and giving them a listening ear
  • To develop a programme of group sessions/activities aimed at promoting awareness of issues such as:

-Parenting

-Education

-Employability

-Welfare

-Other issues that become apparent through working with families

  • Providing advice, guidance, training & information in conjunction with external agencies and other project workers on these issues.
  • Partnering & liaising with external agencies especially health, welfare, finance, local churches etc.
  • To provide crisis intervention, advice and advocacy to families as required
  • Develop & undertake outreach work – visiting families in the community
  • To encourage and facilitate families to consider the relevance of the gospel of Jesus Christ and to encourage everyone in their journey of faith in Christ
  • To pray with families both in group settings and one-to-one and to participate in the staff prayer times
  • To set up and maintain care plans and produce progress reports.
  • To carry out monitoring and evaluation of our workthrough the collection analysis and feedback of data from those we work with and partner agencies
  • To assist with the training, co-ordination and leading of volunteers
  • To attend team and other meetings deemed appropriate
  • To undertake any training considered appropriate by the organisation and the demands of the post
  • Other duties commensurate with the post under direction of Project Manager.

Job Requirements

The post-holder will have a genuine Christian faith, a live church connection and be in agreement with our statement of faith.

Education:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in Community Education, Community Learning & Development/Youth & Community Work
  • HNC Social Care

Experience:

The following are essential:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • A good understanding of social and community issues

  • Knowledge of the key issues involved in any of the following:

-Welfare

Hours of Work & Working demands:

The post is 30hrs pcw during local school term time (38 weeks). Flexible working hours may be required. A clean driving licence is desirable as is access to own vehicle.
