Job Description- Craft Town Coordinator

Position:Farnham Craft Town Coordinator

Hours:50 days over a year, roughly one day per week

Responsible to:Steering group and Craft Programme Coordinator.

Contract:Freelance – one year in the first instance

  1. Objectives and Responsibilities:

1.1To oversee the development and delivery of Farnham: Craft town as a joint initiative of Surrey CountyCouncil, UCA, New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham Maltings and Farnham Town Council.

1.2To build the operational and funding partners that enrich the collective programme of crafts in Farnham.

1.3 To gather evidence on impact and report back to the steering group on the project’s development.

1.4 To ensure there is in place a profile and marketing plan.

  1. Duties:

2.1To oversee the development and delivery Farnham: Craft town as a joint initiative of

Surrey CC, UCA, New Ashgate, Farnham Maltings and Farnham Town Council.

  • Work with the steering group to identify a programme of activities that meet the ambitions of the project; to oversee and co-ordinate the delivery of the 2016 programme and to devise the foundation of the programme for future years.
  • To advise on, and develop, a brief strategic document that encapsulates the funding partners vision and ambition for the future development of Farnham; Craft Town.
  • Communicate regularly with the steering group to monitor progress of each project against the agreed objectives.
  • Ensure that each project monitors and evaluates activity.
  • Coordinate regular steering group meetings.
  • Co-ordinate the activities of the steering group partners for Craft month in October.

2.2To build the operational and funding partners that enrich the collective programme of

crafts in Farnham.

  • To scope for project funding to deliver the ambitions of the partners
  • To work with the steering group to compile and submit applications.
  • To sustain the commitment of the existing partners and identify new partners that share our ambitions.

2.3To gather evidence on impact and report back to the steering group on the project’s development.

  • Produce a six monthly report of current activities and future ambitions

2.4 To ensure there is in place a profile and marketing plan.

  • Encourage stakeholders, artists and communities to use the website and post relevant material on the blogs – and to list their events / activities on the Visit Surrey website.
  • Gather data on the number of sessions held in each community, with the number of participants and age group represented for each session.
  • Gather feedback from participants and craft makers artists as numerical evidence of impact.
