– 40 hours per week; 207 days per year.

This position is funded 100% through the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Grant until September 2018. At that time, the SS/HS Grant funding window ends and the position may be dissolved or specific aspects may need to be renegotiated with the Houghton Lake Community Schools Superintendent and/or Board of Education.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provide additional behavioral health support to K-12 students at any and allHoughton Lake Community School Buildings. This individual will provideconsultation services to the K-12 school community to support the overall mental health goals of the district. In addition, this position includes assisting in the planning and oversight of staff training in a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) within a PBIS and Restorative Practices framework. This position includesorganizing building-level behavioral study teams to work with staff in evaluating students and assigning interventions as needed,oversee implementation, evaluation, and data collecting for K-12 intervention program(s) and activities. This employee will workclosely with our Safe Schools/Healthy Students team, administrators, teachers, and support staff in various locations in the district, as needed. This also includes the possibility of attending conferences and professional development sessions outside of the district.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Masters Degree in Social Work
  2. At least two years successful experience as a social worker, preferably in a school setting
  3. To provide counseling and crisis intervention to students as needed, and possibly refer those individuals to additional resources for further support
  4. Maintains regular contact with the parent/guardian of each student consulted (if appropriate)
  5. Computer Software: Use of SDS (or similar Student Managements and Financial Management System), Excel, Word, Power Point, ability to make copies, Google Mail, Google Calendar, and Web Site Navigation
  6. Experience in Scheduling, Facilitating, and creation of minutes of meetings
  7. Ability to travel out of the area and possibly out of state
  8. Effectively deal with students and adults in a professional manner
  9. Assist in budgeting for proposed evidence-based programs/interventions within a MTSS
