A well established, privately-held regional group of physicians and ancillary clinicians who provide emergency medical services to a large number of hospitals in Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia are seeking a Director of Process Improvement. This organization also provides hospital-based Pediatric, Critical Care, House Officer, Neonatal, and Occupational Medicine coverage in several hospitals in the region. The primary purpose of this position is to drive the process and quality enhancement initiatives throughout the organization. This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with the President, CEO, COO, and Board of Directors to identify and develop new business/process improvement and quality enhancement programs
  • Develops overall strategic plans for process improvement and quality enhancement programs
  • Collaborates with COO to implement and manage all process improvement and quality enhancement programs
  • Serves as the key interface with hospital clients on all improvement programs
  • Develops specific process improvement and quality improvement programs and metrics including working with the data metrics team to ensure validity and actual process transformation
  • Actively promotes the process improvement/quality enhancement practice in all interactions with employees, clinicians, hospital partners, customers, and vendors
  • Maintains employee morale, employee satisfaction, and customer satisfaction at all levels conducive to maintaining high productivity and change management
  • Demonstrates positive and effective leadership skills; demonstrates a high level of enthusiasm that emboldens the process improvement and quality of care initiatives of the organization

Requirements:

Requirements include 1-5 years of operating and planning experience in an acute or tertiary care hospital or practice management setting. Hands-on successful experience in process improvement and quality enhancement is required. Prior experience with Lean or Six Sigma is a plus. Strong analytical and quantitative skills are required. An MHA or MBA is highly desired.
