In Loving Memory of a Great Man Dr. Paul Anthony White Founder of Nutri-West
Funeral liturgy for Dr. Paul Anthony White, 70, will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the Saint James Catholic Church in Douglas, Wyoming with Father John Savio as the Celebrant. The Vigil for the Deceased will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the Gorman Funeral Homes - Converse Chapel in Douglas. Interment will be in the family plot at the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Dr. Paul A. White passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming.
Dr. White was born to Francis (Dickenson) White on April 14, 1939 in Aberdeen, South Dakota, six hours after his twin sister, Paula. Paula said those were the happiest six hours of her life.
Paul White started working when he was 9 years old, shoveling coal at a dry cleaning plant each morning before he went to school, and shoveled walks after school during winter. During the summer he stacked hay bales for 10 cents each, until he was in junior high school. He then worked at a local service station, and on weekends worked at the American News, performing various jobs.
While attending Aberdeen Central High School in 1954, Paul met the love of his life, Marcia VonWald. Following graduation and their marriage in Aberdeen in 1957, the couple moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Paul attended Northwestern College of Chiropractic year round, in addition to working the night shift at Golden Valley Hospital. While at Golden Valley he worked in the psychiatric ward, in the pathology lab assisting in autopsy, and as an orderly. Following graduation in 1962 he purchased his cousin's chiropractic practice in Douglas.
Upon arriving in Douglas he joined the volunteer fire department, ran the ambulance service for 6 years, and was also the county coroner.
Paul was one of the original 12 founding members of the International College of Applied Kinesiology. He began lecturing worldwide on nutrition and applied kinesiology with the White/Walther Seminars, and continued to do so for the next 15 years.
In 1981 Paul and his family started Nutri-West, a nutrition manufacturing company, to provide supplements to his family and patients. The company rapidly expanded into an international nutritional company with worldwide distribution. In 1995 Paul and Marcia purchased the Fort Fetterman Ranch, where they started producing alfalfa hay and raising Black Angus cattle. In 1997, Nutri-West was purchased by Paul and Marcia's children and continues to flourish under their management.
In 2007 Paul and Marcia purchased a winter home in Las Cruces, New Mexico to enjoy their semi-retirement.
Paul was always the center of attention with his quick witted sense of humor. He worked hard, played hard, and enjoyed a fine glass of whiskey and an expensive cigar.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia; children, Paul Anthony White II (Tony) and his wife, Penny, Michele Franchesca Lisco-Ediss and her husband, Dr. Steve Ediss, and Tiffany Ann Moore; eight grandchildren, Megan Lisco, Chelsea Moore, Anthony White, Jordan Lisco, Andrew White, Taylor Lisco, Cooper Moore, and Austin White all of Douglas; twin sister, Paula Egnoske and her husband, Cliff of Grand Island, Nebraska; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful German Shepherd Dog, Fritz.
Dr. White was preceded in death by his mother and grandson, Casey Michael Moore, on May 26, 1996.
Serving as pallbearers will be all of his grandchildren.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Pat Hand, Bob Boner, Butch Scott, Stan Schmidt, Jack Anderberg, Warren Sonaty, Dave Thompson, Skip Kilpatrick, Ed Ricks, Ross Gorman, Ben Markham, Andy Anderson, and Mike Hissam.
A memorial to the Dr. Paul A. White Memorial Scholastic Fund in care of the First National Bank, P.O. Box 1570, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M. and on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
