IPOLICE REGISTRATION IN THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN

According to the laws of Uzbekistan, you must be registered by the Uzbek authorities within 3 days from arrival, incl the arrival day.

Registration is handled automatically through the Hotels or guesthouses you stay at. You are required to keep the registration slips attached to your passport until your final departure.

With a tourist visa you are therefore required to stay at legal guesthouses or hotels AT ALL TIMES throughout your stay. Homestays, camping and couchsurfing are NOT an option.

In case of a gap in your registrations, subsequent hotels may not accept you or you may even be refused to be issued tickets at bus or railway stations.

Registration may be checked at police checks throughout your trip or at passport control upon departure. The official penalty for not registering is about USD 1,000 per person and may result in immediate deportation at your own cost. Neither your Embassy nor any friends in Uzbekistan can do anything to circumvent this rule.

In case of any issues with registration or problems with the authorities you need to oblige to contact the inviting organisation immediately under the contact provided with the invitation.
