IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL STUDENTS – ACTION REQUIRED

Unique Student Identifier (USI) Requirements for Students and your Training Provider

The Federal Government have now released information about the Unique Student Identifier (USI) requirements which will come in to affect as of the 1st of January 2015.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia will be required under these new changes to record the USI of each student who is currently studying the following courses:

  • Certificate II, III, IV in Community Pharmacy
  • SIRCHCS201 Support the Supply of Pharmacy only Medicines and Pharmacists Only Medicines
  • Dispensary courses
  • Any other unit/course of accredited study

A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a 10 digit reference number made up of numbers and letters that give students access to their USI account. A USI will:

  • Seamlessly link information about a student's VET achievements, regardless of where they studied
  • Enable students to easily access secure digital transcripts of their achievements
  • Give students access to, and more control over, their educational information

The USI will be available online and at no cost to the student. This USI will stay with the student for life and be recorded with any nationally recognised VET course that is undertaken from when the USI comes into effect.

What is the next Step?

Option 1: You can apply for your own USI online. This process should take less than 5 minutes and can be completed by going to the following link:

Once you have your USI, please forward this to the Pharmacy Guild of Australia by email at or fax to 03 98192542.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia will not be able to provide youwith your certificate upon completionof your course or accept a new enrolment until a valid USI has been recorded against your student file held by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia.

Option 2:The Pharmacy Guild of Australia VIC Branch can apply for the USI on your behalf to ensure that the process is quick and easy for you. Simply complete and sign the attached form and submit a copy of one of the following forms of identification by November 21st 2014.

  • Driver’s Licence
  • Medicare Card
  • Australian Passport
  • Visa (with Non-Australian Passport)
  • Birth Certificate (Australian)
  • Certificate Of Registration By Descent
  • Citizenship Certificate
