Gods Greatest Promise

John 5:24 (KJV)
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

I)The CREDIBILITY of the promise. (v. 24a)

1 Thessalonians 5:24 (KJV)
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Malachi 3:6 (KJV)
6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

a)It’s a Promise that is CERTAIN. verily, verily

Hebrews 6:18 (KJV)
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

b)It’s a Promise from our CREATOR.

Matthew 7:24 (KJV)
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

a)One must HEAR the Word.

We are saved by hearing Jesus' Word. doing exactly as He says.

  • (John 3:16)."For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"
  • (Romans 5:8)."But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us"

b)One must HEED Jesus. Believeth – Committed in faith

Faith is not merely you holding on to God--it is God holding on to you.

III)The COMFORT of the Promise.

a)The CONSOLATION of Everlasting Life. ------Hath – present

Romans 6:23 (KJV)
23 For the wages of sin isdeath; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

b)We will not come into CONDEMNATION.

(1)Future – will not come

c)We have CROSSED over from death to life.

(1)Past – passed over

When a man is truly saved, he is never condemned to die; he is declared righteous and given eternal life.

(2 Cor. 6:2).For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation"

(John 3:36)."He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him"
