Position:Human Resources Coordinator

Reports to: Regional Controller

Nextran Corporation is a network of full service medium and heavy-duty truck dealerships located throughout Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Nextran sells and services trucks from major manufacturers such as Mack, Volvo, Ford, Isuzu, UD & Mitsubishi. Additionally, Nextran carries a wide selection of used trucks and provides a full range of parts, maintenance and repair services.

Position Description:

The Human Resources Coordinator carries out administrative responsibilities within the Human Resource (HR) functional areas of recruiting, hiring, payroll,benefits and 401(k), workers’ compensation, reporting and compliance for our Fultondale, Tuscumbia and Madison stores. This position is also responsible for performing limited accounting support duties.

Essential Duties:

  • Administer the selection process of new employees; posting jobs, checking references, performing background checks, etc. in accordance with Nextran’s policies and procedures.
  • Present an inviting onboarding experience through new hire orientation for new employees.
  • Maintain employee personnel files throughout employment cycle.
  • Process payroll (and book entries) for three stores on a weekly and semi-monthly basis. (Payroll is outsourced.)
  • Comply with recordkeeping requirements, including EEO-1 reporting, OSHA reports, D.O.T driver qualification, etc.
  • Assist in ensuring efficient and accurate communication, administration (and billing) of employee benefit plans.
  • Serve as the point of contact for HR-related questions for Fultondale, Tuscumbia and Madison employees.
  • Report workers’ compensation injuries and coordinate information between the injured employee, department manager and insurance carriers.
  • Monitor leaves of absence in accordance with federal regulation and company policy.
  • Complete employment-related reporting using the payroll/HRIS system.
  • Assist with coordination/tracking of training to ensure compliance with Nextran training standards.
  • Provide accounting support for Regional Controller, as assigned.

Marginal Duties:

  • Assist in all personnel needs.
  • Maintain flow of all HR-related paperwork between local stores and Corporate office.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

  • Minimum 4 years of HR experience
  • A relevant 4-year college degree
  • The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • The ability to organize and prioritize work effectively
  • The ability to work independently and demonstrate great attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with general accounting practices
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and experience with ADP PC Payroll for Windows
