PHILANTHROPY

Pat Fordosi and Marge Palik

Thanks to everyone who donated to the November Thanksgiving dinner. The family was thrilled with the large donation, and wants to extend their thanks to the members!

December's philanthropic donatons are extensive and varied. Our first initiative will be a fruit basket to the same family we helped in November. Volunteers are needed to make up this basket and deliver it to Pat by NLT Dec. 19th.

Our second initiative involves "adopting" three children from one Hinckley family for Christmas. We are asking members to purchase a gift for one of these three children. Each gift should be wrapped andmust have a sticky note attached as to the contents, and the child's respective number and letter. All gifts must be dropped off to me at 2042 Mattingly Road byNLT Monday, December 16thso that I may get them to the coordinator before their delivery dates on Thursday before Christmas. Here are the ages of each child and a short list of their requests. I'm hoping that if each member signs up to purchase one item at least, we can cover all of their wishes. I will send out updates via e-mail as members sign up.

Child 3A is a boy, age 10

  • Pants, 12 Slim
  • Shifts, size 10-12
  • Anything "Anime" (those are cartoons from China like Bagugan and Pokeman)
  • Likes military sets and play sets of the ilk
  • Has a PS3 gifted by Grandpa, and likes nonviolent video games
  • Warm gloves

Child 3B is a boy, age 13

  • I tunes gift card
  • Men's size small sweat shirt jacket, lined
  • Inexpensive watch
  • Boy's toiletries

Child 3C is a girl in High School - a Sophomore, we think

  • Bath gel and lotion
  • I tunes gift card
  • Girl type toiletries
  • Matching scarf and gloves, solid color
  • Slipper socks

Our third and fourth donations are to two families who have fallen on hard times due to medical reasons. We plan to give each of them grocery gift cards from our Philanthropy budget, however, additional money or gift cards are welcome to make the donation amounts

Santa Visits for 2013

Thank you to our 2013 Santa’s Thomas Carver (Margie’s son), Wayde Ketcher (Kim’s husband), Doug Fisher (Judy’s husband), Dennis Liccardi and to all their elves, Judy and Jackson Fisher, Tina McKinney, Kim and Kara Ketcher, Heather Liccardi and drivers Margie Harris and Jill Drensky. We truly appreciate the great job they did bringing holiday cheer to Hinckley Families.

This year’s visits took place from Dec. 8th to Dec. 11th. This tradition that was started with the club is very special to Hinckley Families. In the letters we receive they thank the Women’s Club over and over for holding this special event. Families plan parties centered on Santa Visits.

Special thanks to those who came to help us prepare for the visits this year Jill Drensky, Kim Ketcher, Judy Fisher and Kathy Schreck and to Colleen Sweydk for opening her home to us and providing goodie bags to the Santa’s, elves and drivers.
