REGISTRATIONA registration desk will be open throughout the competition. Competitors should register promptly upon arrival

& ADMISSION:and turn in music for their first event at that time. No admission fee will be charged for spectators.

ENTRYFEES:Individual Events: 1st event $50.00; 2nd event $35.00; 3rd event - $25.00; 4th event $20.00.

Team Maneuver event: $20 per skater.

Group Showcase event: $20 per skater.

NO REFUNDS will be granted except for events cancelled by the LOC (rule #3235).

The LOC reserves the right to limit entries. Late Entries will be accepted at the discretion of the LOC.

RETURNED CHECKS:There will be a $50 fee charged for every returned check.

MUSIC: The LOC will provide music for the solo dance event. For all other events requiring music, prerecorded cassettes or CDs are required. Cassettes and CDs must be clearly marked with name, event, and music length. Each CD must have only one track recorded on it. Due to compatibility and reliability reasons no music may be submitted on re-recordable “CD-RW” discs. Competition music must be turned in at the registration desk at least one hour before the event and will be available for pick-up at the Registration Desk after the conclusion of the event. Tapes or CDs will not be returned by mail. Competitors must have at least one duplicate back-up cassette or CD readily available at the time of their event. The LOC assumes no responsibility or liability due to the damage, loss, or deficient quality of music media.

SCHEDULE: A tentative schedule will be available approximately two weeks before the competition. Individual group assignments with dates and times will be emailed to all competitors and a tentative schedule of events will be posted on the New Jersey Council website as soon as possible. AWARDS: Awards Ceremonies will be held during each ice resurface. Medals will be awarded to First, Second, Third, and Fourth place winners in every event.

Team Points will be accumulated for the First, Second and Third place winners for each event.

First place is awarded 3 points, Second place is awarded 2 points and Third place is awarded 1 point.

Points earned during the High School Team Open of NJ 2007 are accumulated by SAC club.

We are encouraging entries from all NJ SAC clubs and from out of state SAC clubs, therefore, we would be honored to present a First Place plaque to the NJ SAC club earning the most points and to each out of state SAC club earning the most points during the High School Team Open of NJ 2007.

All Group Showcase team members will receive a participation award; however, the Group Showcase results will not be included in the in any of the 7 awards listed below.

Points will be carried forward throughout the High School Series events and the High School Open event to determine the New Jersey High School team Awards in the following categories:

OVERALL TEAM, TEAM MANUEVER EVENT, INDIVIDUAL EVENTS, PRIVATE SCHOOLS, PAROCHIAL SCHOOLS, PUBLIC SCHOOLS, AND A TEAM OF ONE.

The New Jersey High School Team Awards will be presented at an awards ceremony in May 2007.

ELIGIBILTY

RULES:1.Only ONE (1) skater is needed to represent a High School Skating Club.

  1. Two (2) skaters are required for a Team Maneuver Team. Each skater may only participate on one (1) Maneuver Team.
  2. If there are two (2) or more skaters on the club roster, then each skater may enter three (3) individual events plus a team maneuver event. If there are three (3) or more skaters on the club roster, then each skater may enter three (3) individual events plus a team maneuver event and/or a Group Showcase event. If there is only One (1) skater on the club roster, then the individual competitor may enter four (4) individual events.
  3. The High School Team Open of NJ 2007 will be conducted in accordance with the 2006-2007 USFS rulebook. Since this event is sanctioned as a special competition, this announcement will take precedence over any unforeseen conflict with the USFS rulebook. The 6.0 system of judging will be used for this competition.
  4. The High School Team Open of NJ 2007 is open to all eligible competitors who are members of a School Affiliated Club (SAC) that has registered with USFS for the 2006-2007 season. Each competitor must be registered with USFS through a home club, basic skills, or as an individual member of USFS. Refer to the

USFS website: School Programs for information on SAC membership.

  1. Competitors must be enrolled as a 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grader within an accredited High School with a physical site. The school must not be 100% internet based. The school roster form must be signed by a school administrator who is registered within the high school that the team represents. The skater must represent the high school at which they are enrolled.
  2. Faculty advisors are encouraged but are not required for entry into High School competitions.
  3. Males and females may represent the same team and may enter a team maneuver event representing the same club.
  4. Entrants may skate up one test level in any event. Test level is as of the postmark date of 03/12/07.
  5. Skaters may not enter two (2) levels of the same event except for Solo Dance where the skater may enter a maximum of two (2) events.
  6. Single entry events will be judged and points will be awarded to the skater’s team for first, second and third placements. As is protocol, it will be the referee’s decision as to whether the single competitors are judged

against the book.

  1. Free Skate, Short, Artistic and Compulsory Moves events will be split by gender for Intermediate levels and above. Solo Dance will be split by gender for the Bronze level and above.

13.A Group Showcase event consists of a minimum of three (3) skaters and a maximum of seven (7) skaters.

Each skater may enter only one (1) Group Showcase event.

Artistic Skating – Use of skating skills to develop a theme and interpret music. Effectiveness of the attire will be reflected in the marking. Vocal
Music is permitted. Props of any kind are not permitted. Technical skating skill and difficulty will not be rewarded as such; however, skating must be the major element of the performance and of sufficient quality to support the theatrical elements chosen. Technical elements evaluated will include: Energy, poise, acting, pantomime, eye contact, choreography, line and extension. Timing starts with the first motion of the body – hand, head, skate, etc.
There is no minimum program time. There will be a deduction for each 10 seconds in excess of the maximum performance time.
Separate events for male and females at the Intermediate/Novice level and the Junior/Senior level. Events combined by gender at all other levels.

Maneuver Teams – Teams will consist of no fewer than 2 and no more than 5 skaters at the prescribed test level. No skater may perform more than three of the elements. Each High School club many enter a maximum of one team at each level. Each skater may enter only one team maneuver team.
