Guidelines for the Group Assignment

Software Perspective:

For each of the Assignment topics, the students are to do research and perform a study from a user’s point of view and with the perspective of a software professional.

For example: For ICs, obtain information about the ICs available in the market and the report should be oriented towards how to use the ICs.

The research, the preparation of the report and the presentation is to be done preferably in a Group of up to 5 students.

Each project must culminate in

  • The submission of a final report
  • Power-point slides for presentation
  • A soft copy, in word, along with
  • A hard copy.

The hard copy may be 20-25 pages.

A Presentation of 15 minutes:

It is mandatory that each Group member must make a part of the presentation.

GUIDELINES for writing the Report

  • Font : Times New Roman ; Style : regular ; size : 12 ; Spacing : 1.5

Structure of the report:

  • Should include a cover page giving
  • The course #,
  • The title ,
  • The names of group members , and their individual contributions.
  • The report may be a minimum of 20 pages, excluding the following:
  • The title page
  • The reference page(s)
  • The Contents page.
  • References: should follow the IEEE /ACM guidelines.

  • The reader is assumed to be a student of your class, belonging to a different group. So please explain the topic clearly so that the reader is able to understand your topic.
  • Figures can be used wherever needed , but should not be used for filling up pages.
  • Must be divided in to various chapters and sections.
  • The report should be submitted by the group on the due date as a HARD copy as well as SOFT copy in a CD or a floppy in WORD format.
  • The power point slides are to be submitted as a soft copy. But this submission may be on the day of the presentation.

Guidelines for presentation

  • All the presentations are to use Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • The group presentation may consist of about 20 slides
  • Each of the group members is to present his contribution to the assignment
  • Time allocated for each presentation to a group is 15min.
  • The presentation should be based on the Report, that the group has submitted.
