Problem Statement (a statement of the discrepancy between the vision of a high quality math program and the current state of the math program):
Currently Butler County High School hasa high percentage of students in need of a taking a transition course in math their senior year. We feel that increasing the quality of the math program, we can reduce the number of those students needing remediation in math in the future.
Evidence (Building or district data, quantitative or qualitative, documenting the problem):
Based upon school data, BCHS has approximately 75% of our students that are scoring below benchmark on the EPAS assessments.
Improvement Goals (in S.M.A.R.T. format)
Short-Term Improvement Goal #1 (timeframe of one year or less):
We want to move at least 20% of those seniors that did not meet benchmark on ACT test as measured by the compass test by May of 2013.
Short-Term Improvement Goal #2 (timeframe of one year or less):
We want to move 25% of those juniors that did not meet benchmark on the PLAN test as measured by the ACT by March of 2013.
Long-Term Improvement Goal (timeframe of more than one year but less than three):
Increase the number of students meeting or exceeding the state average for meeting benchmarks in math on the ACT by year 2016.
Short-Term Improvement Goal #1 (timeframe of one year or less):
Move 20% of seniors that did not meet benchmark on ACT as measured by the compass by May of 2013.
