Georgia Cattlemen’s Association Convention & Beef Expo Communications Internship

Georgia Cattlemen’s Association is offering one paid communications internship for the duration of its 55thConvention and Beef Expo, held March 30 – April 2 in Perry, Ga., at the Georgia National Fairgrounds. The intern is expected to stay in the selected hotel for the three days. All travel expenses and mileage associated with program work will be reimbursed. Upon completion, the selected intern will receive a scholarship from Georgia Cattlemen’s Association for $500.

Responsibilities:

  • Photography: Attend and photograph all Convention and Beef Expo events and sales; Create photo captions for magazine and social media usage; Manage photo uploads to social media
  • Writing: Attend and report on all Convention and Beef Expo events and sales; Collect sale reports, quotes and interviews for magazine and social media usage; Manage social media updates

To apply, you MUST meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a Georgia resident and/or attend a Georgia college or university
  • Be a member of GJCA (Dues $15)
  • Be a sophomore, junior or senior in college
  • Major in animal science, agricultural economics, agribusiness, food science, meat science, agricultural communications, agricultural education or family and consumer sciences
  • Must be able to be present at all Convention events, beginning 8 a.m. Wednesday through conclusion of events on Saturday
  • Must have strong journalism or photojournalism skills
  • Must be involved in extracurricular activities pertaining to agriculture

Application Requirements:

  • Completed application, including résumé, short biography and most recent transcript
  • Examples of work
  • Photography: Three to five high resolution color photographs
  • Writing: Three to five articles or press releases
  • Application must be received no later than February 20, 2016 to the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association office. A final decision will be made no later than February 25, 2016. Postmarked applications received after February 20 will not be considered.
