  • Those who have been referred and did not disclose any mental health challenges but displays signs of aggression or non-co-operation within the first two weeks of their stay will be transferred back into to care of the referrer for appropriate placement.
  • Those victims with substance abuse addictions will be accommodated upon agreement that full co-operation are given by the client’s concerned for referral to treatment centres. If addictive behaviours persist and the client resists treatment then the client will be asked to leave.

  • Victims/women with dependent children
  • Unaccompanied children who are victims of abuse for overnight only. They need to be referred either to child line or to CPU Social Worker the next day to be placed in a place of safety (with form 4)
  • Victim/client to be willing to abide by the rules of the shelter
  • For emergency/crisis situation, case no should not be used as criteria (assessment will determine plan of action the next working day)
  • Religion or victim’s belief systems and beliefs and values to be respected (no victim/client should be discriminated against)
  • Only women over the age of 18 years with dependent children will be referred for medium accommodation
  • The women must be victims of violence and sexual assault. They must be in a dangerous situation and have nowhere to go
  • There must be a case no and the name of the investigating officer (case no not always to be used as a criteria for admission) The case manager will make final assessment on the case
  • The victim must be willing to abide by the rules and regulations and sign a contract for the period of stay

  • Client/victim must be from Gauteng Province (with exception of immigrants)
  • Every client before admitted in the shelter to undergo a general medical check up
  • Severe physically injured and psychiatric clients cannot be admitted until declared medically fit
  • No destitute or homeless women to be referred for medium term accommodation
  • Have cut-off lines as to how many times they will be admitted
  • Victims must be willing and committed to be empowered so as to achieve independent living (self-reliant) – sign a client contract
  • No safety of the victim can be guaranteed outside the shelter except inside the shelter (indemnity form to be signed)
  • The victim/client to participate in all developmental programmes of the shelter
