Job Description and Person Specification

Job Title:Community Engagement Coach – Building Better Opportunities Programme

Purpose of Job: To engage and work with a diverse caseload of unemployed adults, most of which are 50+ in age range and may have a range of barriers to finding employment e.g long term health problems, disabilities, skills and confidence etc. The majority of clients will be people who are not already engaged in a support provision. The role will involve coaching them with all aspects of their self-development, education, employment, enterprise and training needs.

Responsible to:Employment Skills & Training Director

Main Duties:

  • To provide/help facilitate mentoring and support to enable users to:
  1. Make positive choices within their own lives
  2. Agree and work towards monitored personal goals
  3. Engage with peer support networks
  4. Develop Social networks and community links
  5. Increase awareness of business enterprise/self-employment
  6. Increase communication skills, team working & problem solving
  • To engage and recruit eligible beneficiaries of the service and manage referrals
  • To build the trust of the beneficiaries and provide confidential Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG);
  • To conduct Initial Assessments with all beneficiaries to clarify and assess their individual needs;
  • To enable service user to find pathways to employment, enterprise and or training
  • Good understanding of employability skills including: cv writing, interview coaching and job search activities
  • Liaise and work with community & commercial organisations to facilitate the involvement of service users with mainstream community and employment activities
  • To build up and maintain knowledge of information resources on education, training and work, in order to co-design each Individual Action Plan;
  • To administer barrier removal and specialist support funds, in line with individual beneficiary needs;
  • To collect, update and produce information on local opportunities, including the arrangement of work placement opportunities;
  • To refer beneficiaries to other agencies, learning and training providers or specialist organisations, and advocating on their behalf where necessary;
  • Contribute to the development of promotional and publicity activities including outreach work.
  • To attend networking events to promote the service and engage new recruits;
  • To ensure that outcome targets are met and participate in contract monitoring arrangements;
  • To develop and maintain a network of contacts with other providers of information, advice, guidance, enterprise, training and education
  • To work in partnership with an existing cohort of approved partner organisations
  • To undertake administrative tasks such as setting up and maintaining accurate client records, evaluations, recording statistical data and producing management reports;
  • To act as part of the wider team, looking for opportunities to promote/cross sell Groundwork South Yorkshire’s range of complementary contracts.

Salary:£23,000 - £26,000 depending on experience

Contract

Duration: 2 year fixed term contract with 3 month probationary

Period

Hours:37 hours per week, Monday-Friday and also to include occasional evening and weekend work as and when required.

Location:Outreach locations throughout the Sheffield City Region

(Primarily Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley & Rotherham).
