Subject: 2013 WSAS Pre-Test Workshop Now Available

DACs:

  • The Fall 2013 Pretest Workshop is now available for viewing online at The Workshop will cover the Fall 2013 updates, highlight important dates, and discuss test security. OSA staff will cover administration of the WKCE and WAA-SwD as well as the delivery of test materials and student test labels. Packing and shipping Procedures of your WSAS materials for after testing will be gone over in detail. OSA staff will also discuss Assessment of ELL Students for the2013 administration including ACCESS and Alternate ACCESS for ELLs followed up by a brief NAEP Update.
Test Materials are due to arrive in Districts October 7-11, 2013, and it would be beneficial to view the workshop prior to the arrival of your materials.
  • Please be sure to send out notification to parents about the test and the upcoming testing schedule as early as possible. This will allow parents to prepare their students. One notification resource available is the WKCE Student/Parent Pre-Test Information Brochure which arrives with the testing materials and is also available at (also available in Spanish, Hmong, and Albanian only on the webpage). Along with the brochure district/schools should include an actual testing schedule so parents are fully informed.
  • Be sure to check out the new test security manual and updates to the test security policies. The Test Security Manual is available at Updates include a new WKCE test material retention policy and new confidentiality agreements. DACs and district/school staff should have confidentiality agreements signed prior to materials arriving in districts.
  • The Proctor Guidelines handout (available in your DAC and TAM guides and online at should be copied and given to all proctors prior to testing. Issues arise each year due to proctors not having enough information about their role and responsibilities. This handout has been very helpful in clarifying some of those issues along with the 10 minute test security training which is available for viewing at any time at

If you have any questions about the upcoming test window or administration of the WKCE or WAA-SwD, please do not hesitate to contact OSA.
