PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

1.To provide quality classroom teaching so that every student can achieve at their optimal level.

2.To effectively implement curriculum and/or schemes of work as set down by the LOL.

3.To maintain standards of self-discipline, courtesy, presentation and behaviour that provide a positive example for all students.

4.Undertake practices and principals of the FlaxWay that supports restorative practice, PB4L and PR4L.

5.Implement teaching as inquiry process.

(a)TEACHING STRATEGIES:

(I)Strategies focus on individual needs

(ii)The strategies and learning objectives are appropriate for the culture,age, ability andattainment of students;

(iii)These strategies include teaching methods, learning activities, instructional material,and the use of other resources;

(iv)The expectations for each student are clearly expressed, realistic and challenging;

(v)Emphasis is given to assisting students driven learning, and effective assessment for learning practices;

(vi)The impact of the strategies is regularly assessed to improve upon their effectiveness.

(vii)Implement the Flaxmere Way teaching and learning guidelines.

(viii)Develop strategies and resources for collaborative teaching and flexible learning spaces in an ILE.

(b)CURRICULUM DELIVERY:

(i)Lessons are well prepared and documented;

(v)The purpose and aims of The New Zealand Curriculum framework and the national curriculum statements are understood; and curriculum and assessment requirements are met;

(e)CONTRIBUTION TO TEACHING TEAM ACTIVITIES:

(i)Resources are contributed to the Learning Area pool;

(ii)Tasks set down and agreed with the LOL are carried out;

(iii)Learning Area meetings are attended and a positive contribution made;

(iv)Works co-operatively and shares information and ideas in Learning Area and wider teacher team activities.

(f)CONTRIBUTION TO THE CORPORATE LIFE OF THE SCHOOL:

(i)Preparedness to participate in the wider educational and cultural life of the school;

(ii)Participate in negotiated extra curricular activities, school and community programmes as required;

(iii)School policies and management routines are followed;

(iv)Maintain good relationships with parents and members of the College community;

(iv)To maintain the requirements of the Teaching Professional Standards as outlined in the CEC.

(h)HEALTH AND SAFETY:

Staff must follow:
