Expression of Interest – 2014

The inaugural Canberra Comedy Festival ran in 2013 to great success, and we would like to invite applications from artists interested in performing in the 2014 Canberra Comedy Festival – which will be run from March 4th to March 10thin venues across the ACT. Canberra Comedy Festival presented 28 shows in 2013, so the application process will be competitive.

Canberra Comedy Festival is a curated festival, and as such you will need to be selected by the festival to participate in the program. To be considered, applicants are required to submit a PDF application to before 5pm on September 15th, 2013. Hard copy supporting materials (DVD’s etc.) may be sent to the postal address listed above.Canberra Comedy Festival encourages and welcomes all applications.

Your application should describe the show you wish to present and the people you wish to present it with, including CV’s and achievements, show-reels, or anything else that you think is relevant. The goal is to give a feel of what your show is like, and how you plan to sell your tickets. Your proposal must address the key points below; though do not feel restricted by them;

  • Show Content, Style
  • Technical Requirements
  • Previous Experience
  • Marketing Plan and Expected Budget
  • Anything else you think is relevant!
  • Show Reels, Photos, Press Shots, and Media are desirable.

Your application must include the cover sheet included in this document. All applications will be considered equally, and successful applicants will be notified by October 18th, 2013.

Tips on Preparing Your Application

1)The application should include a realistic and detailed marketing plan and budget, designed to show us who your target market is and how you plan to sell your tickets. The Festival provides holistic marketing, but doesn’t have the resources to extensively market individual shows.

2)The Canberra Comedy Festival is a unique environment.It will work in your favour to look at our website for how the Canberra Comedy Festival was run in 2013 and show how you plan to appeal to Canberra audiences.

3)If you don’t think we’ve heard of you before, give us a bit of background on yourself. Videos should be uploaded privately to YouTube, but can be mailed hard copy to the festival if necessary.

4)Submission of an expression of interest does not guarantee inclusion in the program.

5)The festival team is here to help you prepare your application. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

6)Be brief, but to the point. Make sure it is neat and easy to read. Keep your application to the important details, and most of all – submit it by the due date! Late applications will not be accepted.

7)Make sure you start with the cover sheet.
