Etiquette Rules to Play Golf at Villa Padierna Golf Club

ETIQUETTE RULES TO PLAY GOLF AT VILLA PADIERNA GOLF CLUB

RULES & ETIQUETTE

  1. Smart shorts can only be worn in the Clubhouse until 19:30 h, but they can be worn on the terrace at any time of the day.
  2. Men’s polo shirts with a collar, short or long sleeved, which are tucked into the trousers must be worn, ladies’ polo shorts must have a collar if they are sleeveless.
  3. Golf caps must be worn with the peak at the front.
  4. Trainers are not allowed. Golf shoes must be worn on the golf course; they can be worn on the terrace and in the coffee shop, but not in the restaurant areas where dinner is served or in the lounges.
  5. Beachwear or tennis attire cannot be worn anywhere in the Club.
  6. No more than 2 golf buggies can be used in a round of golf.
  7. Golfers must provide a handicap certificate.
  8. All golfers must present themselves to the Starter 10 minutes before tee-off time.
  9. Four golfers play in a round of golf. Anyone who makes a reservation for fewer players shall be joined up with other players to make up the group of four.
  10. Men shall have white or yellow tees on the teeing ground and ladies shall have red or blue tees. The use of other tees must be authorised in advance by the management.
  11. All golfers who use the electric golf carts must abide by the rules of use. Golfers must read and obey all the signs on the golf course.
  12. The golf carts must be kept away from the tees, the surrounding areas, they must not go any further than the signs andthey must be kept away from the putting greens.
  13. Golfers must respect the pace of play and not overtake the golfers precedingthem. They must finish the round of golf within four hours.
  14. The Rules of Golf Etiquette and Behaviour on the Golf Course must be complied with at all times.
  15. Anyone who fails to comply with these rules shall be asked to leave the Golf Club.

RULES

1. -OUT-OF-BOUNDS (Rule 27-1):

Defined by fences (wire mesh fences), stakes and white lines put up around the course. The lines prevailover the others; the white stakes prevailover the fences.

2. -INTEGRAL PARTS OF THE GOLF COURSE:

Paths and tracks, even though there are stones or gravel on them, except artificial surfaced, cement or concrete paths(the latter areImmovable Obstructions andthe player may take relief,without penalty).

3. - IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 24-2, the player may take relief,without penalty):

  • Artificially surfaced, cement or concrete paths.
  • White-lined areas adjoining any areas defined as Immovable Obstructions are to be regarded as part of the Immovable Obstruction and not as Ground under Repair.
  • Thesprinklers located at least two club-lengths away from the Green if they interfere with the Line of Playof a golf ball that is located at least two club-lengths away from the sprinkler.

4. -RELIEF, WITHOUT PENALTY SHALL BE MANDATORY TO PROTECT THE GOLF COURSE, AMONG OTHER THINGS (Rule 25):

a)Ground under Repair marked with blue stakes and/or white lines. (DROPPING THE BALL IS MANDATORY).

b)Clumpof Turf on the Course that interferes with the positioning of the ball or the area of intended swing (and not only due to the position of the player); all the clumps of turf that hinder the game shall be treated the same if Rule 20-2c is applied (the ball must be dropped again).

c)Ditchcovered with gravel (it is considered to be Ground under Repair–the aforesaid rule applies-).

d)Ball embeddedon any part of the Course that is not sand.

e)Any other situation that is covered by the Local Rules or in the Rule Book (Water Hazard, etc.).

f)Ditch produced by irrigation work.

5.- DROPPING ZONE FOR THE WATER HAZARD WHEN PLAYING THE 17thHOLE:

Established for the Water Hazard marked with yellow stakes in front of the Green of the 17th hole,while it is being played (even though the ball last crossed the margin of the hazard marked with red stakes), in which case the player can:

(i) Act in accordance with the applicable Rule (Rule 26) or,

(ii) As an Additional Option, drop a ball, with a Penalty Stroke, in the Dropping Zone (“DZ”) marked for this purpose in front of the Hazard.

6. -CABLES AND OVERHEAD POWER LINES:

If a ball hits an overhead power line or cable, the Strike must be cancelled and repeated without penalty (see Rule 20-5). If the ball cannot be retrieved immediately another ball can be used.

7.- USING MOBILE PHONES AND SIMILAR DEVICES:

a)If a player using a mobile phone disturbs other players during the Stipulated Round of Golf thismight be considered to be a serious breach of the Rules of Golf Etiquette, in which case the player would be disqualified.

b)If a player delays the game when it is their turn because they are on their mobile phone or they are using a similar device, they shall be considered to have broken Rule 6-7 of Undue Delay (penalty: 2 Strokes or Loss of Hole; for subsequent offence, Disqualification).

8.- DEVICES TO MEASURE DISTANCES:

TheCompetition Committee authorises the use of distance measuring devices both in official competitions and

NB: “A player can get information about the distance by using a device that only measures the distance. If during the round of golf a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to calculate or determine any other condition that could affect how they play (drops, wind speed, temperature etc...) the player shall be considered to have broken rule 14-3.The penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether this device has been used or not.”

PENALTY FOR BREAKING LOCAL RULES: Stroke Play, 2 Strokes; Match Play, Loss of Hole.

Golfers are asked to kindly repair any ball marks or divots, rake the bunkers, etc.
