Program Information

What is DPS Management?
The DPS Management program supports supervisors, managers, directors and assistant principals to hone their leadership skills, to influence and engage those they lead, facilitate change and develop a performance-based, team culture.
Interested leaders should submit a completed application and a letter of support from their manager. If accepted into the program, participants will take a performance-based assessment and create a development plan.
Program Components
Core Components
Thirty-six DPS leaders participate in a performance- based simulation and create a development plan for this program. They will also be required to attend a number of workshops including: Introduction to DPS Management and Values Based Leadership, Implementing Continuous Improvement, Building a High-Performing Team, Leading for Equity in the DPS Mosaic and Mentoring. Leaders will complete a continuous improvement project and present findings to their colleagues.
Individually Designed Components
Based on the leader’s development plan s/he may choose from a variety of competency development workshops that may include: Leading Change, Communicating with Impact, Leading from Within: Emotional Intelligence, and Managing Projects.
Mentoring
Each participant will mentor and be mentored by selected DPS students and attend a fun team-building event during the course of the DPS Management program.
Expected Outcomes
DPS Management will help you:
Reflect on how you will live the DPS mission and values and learn how to align your strategic plans to them.
Develop core skills that will increase your ability to create a high performing team and drive impact
throughout the organization.
Create trusting and meaningful relationships withDPS colleagues and students.
Celebrate your personal growth and the growth of other leaders.
Commitment/Expectations
Participants will commit to 43 hours of required programming and up to 16 hours of individual competency development over a four-month period. Potential assignments include:
Pre-work
  1. Performance based simulation with coaching
  2. DiSC Assessment
  3. Pre-reading
  4. DPS and personal bio presentation
  5. Project ideas for continuous improvement
Post-work
  1. Continuous improvement project and presentation
  2. Graduation celebration and report out one success

If you are receiving this document, it is because one of your employees is applying to participate in the DPS Management program. A support letter is required to ensure that the participant’s manager supports the individual’s participation in the program and is committed to supportingthe participant’s growth and development before, during and after the program.
We encourage support of those employees on your team who have current supervisory responsibilities for people, projects and activities, who possess high potential for additional leadership and/or management roles, have a desire to continue to grow their skillset, and have had limited opportunity for leadership/managerial development.
