Season 2012-2013

Quick word from President

Well the season minor round end is 1 match away. Good luck to all that get to finals, next week we will know final places after byes are considered and adjustment made to Points by HTA, hopefully not disadvavataging our teams. I will be cheering for you and encourage all others to get out there and support. With courts resurfaced, we have again one of the best facilities in the HTA. The Presentation night this year will have a Special General Meeting as part of gathering, to just get approval of the new constitution, an important change to your club and hopefully, will not take up too much time. Big thank you to our small band of committee, again for their time a tireless efforts to get a pile of things happening and they comitted themselves to the whole ABD to ensure the volunteer servers where well stocked, a great effort by all, a special thanks to our drink supplier lady (Andrea) for arranging most of the drinks for the day, we learnt lots for next year.

All British Day

The All British Day was a successful event for our club and many other clubs. There was feedback from regular ABD visitors and members who thoroughly enjoyed the day. We would like to thank all our members for helping make the event a successful one. There was a lot of organisation that goes in to one of these events, particular when it is so new to our club, so we appreciated your support and enthusiasm.

Our members contributed in various ways before and on the day of this event. The making of ice meant that we did not have to buy any ice, which cut down our costs considerably. Many people donated ice and eskies. We had members kindly helping us set up marquees on the Saturday and a large number of friendly members serving customers from our 2 drink stands.

The total profit we made for the day came to $2290.33, less 20% of which goes back to the ABD Committee. Thank you all again for helping to make this a profitable event for our Club.

Presentation Night

Please come along for the final get together this season and celebrate the achievements of all our players. Junior and Senior Presentation Night will be held at the Football Clubrooms on the 23rd March @ 6pm.

The Netball Club are kindly catering for our Presentation Night, making Yiros’, as well, we will have an icecream for dessert. All proceeds from the meal $8.50 will go to the Netball Club as part of their fundraising. As per usual, drinks will be available for purchase from the Bar.

Please RSVP with family name and numbers and type of meat to or 0412 639 001.

Special General Meeting

Presentation Night will be combined with a brief Special General Meeting at which we wish to pass our updated Constitution. A copy of the Constitution will be emailed to all members prior to this evening.

Team Reports

Juniors

Outstandingly, thanks to great players, great commitment and great coaching, 6 out of our 7 junior teams will make it to the first lot of finals this season.

Div 1 boys 3rd, Div 2 boys 5th, Div 6 boys 4th, Div 12 boys 2nd, Div 1 girls 2nd, Div 3 girls 2nd and Div 6 girls 2nd.

We wish all our teams Good Luck and lots of fun as they enter the finals in a couple of weeks.Semi finals are played 3v4 7th March Friday night 6:30 Start, 1v2 Sat 8th Morning 8:30 Start. We believe St Francis formals etc may impact some teams, so you need to work these into your planning.

We had 6 of our juniors play in the country carnival and/or HTA Closed tournament during the school holidays, Jayden White, Brayden Slater, Brodie White, Sid Kentish, Annika Tobin and Poppy Kentish. Feedback I have received was positive, so good on you for participating.

Coaching during finals

Coaching timetable may change, as we consolidate teams training times, once we know you has got across the line into finals. The focus now becomes on how to play well, enjoy and celebrate your successes of getting as far as you do. Training times will normally go from 45min to 1 hr to enable more match play, so if you can stay the extra time, you and your team mates will get a longer hit. Also remember finals are played Friday nights and Sat mornings, Penny will send out location once we know,so stay tuned. Match times will be confirmed each week at training.

Seniors

With 2 matches remaining for senior tennis the Div 2 women are sitting on top of the ladder. Div 1 women are 5th, Div 2 men are 6th and the doubles team is 6th. The Div 1 women still have a chance of playing at least the first week of finals.

The night teams continue to look after themselves. We have 3 teams playing Tuesdays and 2 on Wednesdays.

Midweek continues to have mixed results but we have fun.

Use of courts and lights

All members are free to use the courts for practice, key from General Store;however, if this is done under lights there is a fee to pay. Member’s fees for night tennis cover their games with lights; however, any extra usage requires a small fee of $10.

End of Year Social Day

Unfortunately due to the Foundation Cup falling on the same day and other commitments by several members, this event has been cancelled for this season, but we look forward to organising a social day for next season.
