COLOURGEN CONTINUES FINANCIAL GROWTH

Colourgen, the UK's leading distributor of large format digital printing and audio/visual solutions, has announced a 10% increase in sales revenues to £11 million for the year ending June 2003. The continued popularity of the EPSON hardware and consumables business, as well as the formation of the audio visual division, have been the main drivers of Colourgen’s growth over the last year.

Jeff Biggs, Colourgen’s Managing Director, comments, “In a difficult trading year for many companies in this industry, Colourgen has managed to continue its overall growth. Our focus, as always, is to deliver the industry’s leading products, backed up by first class product support, maintenance, engineering, training and technical support. We have also introduced the market’s fastest order fulfilment service for a complete range of consumables and printers.”

Colourgen has taken on the services of one of the UK’s leading logistics companies, Bishopsgate, in order to further improve its distribution capabilities. “With the help of Bishopsgate, we can now fulfil a hardware order placed before 5.00pm by 9.00am the next day. This is a key advantage for us as it means that customers can rely on us to deliver products as soon as they need them. With such a large array of products large and small, it also means we can hold the industry’s most comprehensive stock range,” adds Biggs.

New printers to come to market in the past year have included a new range of EPSON Stylus Pro printers dedicated to the photo reproduction, fine art and proofing markets. The EPSON 7600, 9600 and 10600 all deliver unrivalled print quality and are very easy to use. Colourgen has bundled these with the ColorGate PhotoRIP to provide a cost-effective solution for the high street photolab market.

More recently, ENCAD launched the VinylJet 36” printer, a 36-inch, 600 dpi, full-colour printer that enables aqueous ink printing on uncoated/untreated vinyl media. In its first month of availability Colourgen has already seen high levels of demand and the product was amongst the most talked about at the recent Sign UK exhibition.

In addition to its traditional printer business, Colourgen has also launched an audio/visual division. “We believe that electronic signage and displays are a natural progression for our clients and their clients. We have the knowledge and experience of delivering solutions for the sign and display industry and audio visual is a logical extension to this. We have established distribution agreements with the industries leading players, such as LGE, Mitsubishi, NEC, Sharp, Sanyo and Displaymate TouchScreens and are already seeing many of our resellers from the printing industry taking on the products and delivering both printed and electronic display solutions,” says Biggs.

Jeff Biggs concludes, “We are very excited about the coming year. We expect some exciting new products to come from many of our printer manufacturer partners that will continue to serve existing markets as well as create opportunities for further expansion into new markets. We are also expecting solid growth for the audio visual division as we aim to transfer our reputation for excellent supply, service and support to this competitive marketplace.”
