Dear Organiser,

Please complete the information contained herein for your 2013 meeting website/poster.

You will also receive an excel spreadsheet to help outline your Programme.

Supplying us with most of the information requested helps get your site structured and ready as soon as possible (plus enables us to design your poster shortly thereafter).

NB: If you are managing your own website – please send us the link once completed so it can be added to the EMBO events calendar (http:events.embo.org/).

All information can, of course, be updated/added/changed at a later stage i.e. after the website is published (detailed programme, co-sponsors, transport schedules and similar).

We continuously work with you to keep information updated and changes made.

Best wishes,

Pioneering studies using Drosophila melanogaster over the last five years have resulted in advances in our understanding of mitotic spindle formation, chromosome segregation and cytokinesis, DNA and spindle checkpoint maintenance, DNA repair, and stem cell renewal and specification. The aim of this workshop is to bring together outstanding scientists working in this exciting area in order to assess the state of the field, define possible future developments, strengthen collaborations and establish new ones.

FURTHER MAIN BODY TEXT
Please provide the rest of the main body text here (this can also be comprised of a list of topics or similar). There is no limitation on the amount of text. See example websites given above for text layouts.

The main objective of the workshop, sponsored by EMBO and the University of Exeter, UK, is to bring together scientists working in Europe, North America and Australia who are actively engaged in research on the cell division cycle using the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster. This model organism combines more than 100 years of mutational studies with a particularly well annotated genome (and genomes of related species), the ability to undertake biochemical and proteomic studies, amenability for high-temporal and spatial microscopy approaches, and both cell culture-based and in vivo-based RNAi methodology. Together, these techniques have advanced our understanding of cell division in areas such as the mechanisms underlying chromosome segregation, DNA and spindle checkpoint mechanisms, the molecular basis of DNA repair, stem cell renewal and specification, and tumor formation.
This workshop follows three previous EMBO workshops organized on similar lines, at approximately 6 year intervals, that have been highly successful both in assessing the state of the field and in providing a broad view of the type of research that is possible using Drosophila.
Sessions:
Cell Proliferation and Stem Cells
Chromosomes, DNA replication and repair
Mitosis and Cell Division
Centrosomes
Cell Cycle control and checkpoints
Meiosis
Attendance will be limited to 120 people

The Workshop will be held at Dartington Hall, Totnes.

Dartington Hall is a secluded, medieval 14th Century Grade I-listed Hall and gardens, based within a 1200 acre Estate, near Totnes in Devon. Situated throughout the Old Court, the Workshop will use the integral Lecture Theatre, a number of meeting spaces of varying size, and its own award-winning restaurant facilities. It is the site for the world-renowned Dartington Music and Arts Festival, which runs between July and August each year and, until 2009, was also the primary campus for Dartington College of Arts.
During the Workshop, there will be the opportunity to explore the grounds, including Schumacher College, which hosts its own MSc in Holistic Science, and High Cross House, a celebrated modernist residence, newly restored by the UK National Trust.
On the Thursday and Friday evenings, dinner will be served in the Great Hall, which will also be the venue for the Gala Conference Dinner and Dance on the Sunday evening.
On Saturday afternoon, delegates will get to choose from one of two excursions: the Vine to Wine Experience at the acclaimed Sharpham Vineyard Estate ( or a tour of the award-winning Bays Brewery, in nearby Paignton ( concluding with a free evening to sample the restaurants of the local area of outstanding natural beauty.
TRANSPORT
This can be updated nearer the time of your meeting. Main points are major airports/train stations and local transportation to get to/from the venue. This assists participants when planning their travel.
Bus schedules for pick up and return to airports can be added later once your arrangements are in place.
