3rd grade

Science

Objective: Students will have a basic knowledge and be able to give examples of each basic need.

Procedure: Teacher will present and guide students through knowledge provided by the Power Point on Basic Needs. Teacher passes out worksheet and facilitates while students complete the assignment.

Materials: 1) Power Point Presentation

2) Worksheet provided

Preparation: Review Power Point to familiarize with animations and terms.

Evaluation: Students should complete worksheet. Worksheet includes 25 questions.

Standard: Student should be able to:

1)  Ask well defined questions

Math

Objective: Student will use math skills to complete worksheet.

Procedure: Teacher will pass out worksheet and facilitate learning process while student engages in activity.

Materials: 1) Worksheet

Preparation: Print worksheet provided.

Evaluation: Evaluate student’s skill using worksheet.

Standard: Student should be able to:

1) Know all addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts.

2) Read, write, locate, compare, and order numbers

3) Solve word problems

4) Use measurement concepts to select appropriate length

English/Reading

Objective: Students learn and utilize vocabulary used in Basic Needs lesson.

Procedure: If teacher has not presented Power Point on Basic Needs, he/she needs to do so. After presentation, teacher will pass out word search and facilitate students as they complete the assignment.

Materials: 1) Basic Needs Power Point (if not used for Science lesson)

2) Worksheet

Preparation: 1) Review Power Point if not used earlier

2) Copy worksheets

Evaluation: Students should complete Word Search.

Standard: Student should be able to:

1)  Read third grade material fluently and with comprehension

Fine Art

Objective: Students learn and utilize art vocabulary in a lesson about photography.

Procedure: Teacher should pass out handout on art elements and principles. Teacher should cover the elements and principles with the students in guided discussion. After discussion, teacher will present the Montgomery photographs for the students to find the various elements and principles.

Materials: 1) KC Montgomery Power Point

2)  Elements and Principles handout

3)  Paper

4)  Pencils

Preparation: 1) Review Power Point

2) Copy handouts

Evaluation: Students should positively identify elements and principles in the works.

Standard: Student should be able to:

1)  Identify cultural influences in artwork

2)  Integrate elements and principles into lesson

3)  Use real life experiences (photography) for ideas

Social Studies

Objective: Students become familiar with Quarter Horse history taking place in areas around them. Students further learn the important roles which people in Quarter Horse history have played with influential groups and people outside the association.

Procedure: Teacher will present and guide students through knowledge provided by the Power Point on 6666 Ranch. Teacher passes out worksheet and facilitates while students complete the assignment.

Preparation: 1) Become familiar with slide animation

2) Print worksheets provided.

Evaluation: Students should be able to answer questions and complete worksheet.

Standard: Students should be able to:

1) Understand the effects that inspiring heroes have had on communities,

past and present.

2) Learn about the lives of important men and women who made

important choices, overcame obstacles.

3) Identify people who made a difference, influenced decision making, and

participated in resolving issues which are important to all people

4) Develop an understanding of the economic, cultural, and scientific

contributions made by individuals.
