I.M.A.S.A. Judo / Ju-Jitsu Ne Waza / Groundgrappling Championship Rules

Techniques Not Allowed and Illegal for all Age and Weight Categories which will lead to Immediate Warning with Penalties and which could also result in an Immediate Disqualification from not only the Category itself, but from the Championships as a whole

·  No Full Nelson. Crucifix, Guillotines, Can Openers or Neck Cranks

·  No Slamming (To escape submission or guard)

·  No Standing

·  No Ankle, Leg, Knee, Wrist, Shoulder or Head Locks

·  No Knee on the Stomach

·  No eye gouging

·  No Face Grabbing

·  No grabbing the ears

·  No hair pulling

·  No finger holds

·  No toe holds

·  No thumbing

·  No scratching

·  No pinching

·  No kicking

·  No punching

·  No head butting

·  No striking of any kind

·  No biting

·  No touching the groin area

·  No covering of the mouth or nose with the hands

·  No hands, knees, forearms or elbows on face and rubbing of and/or twisting (You can only pull up the forehead with Forearm to try and gain a choke)

·  No spine, neck or back cranks

·  No butt scooting, avoiding combat, stalling or just sitting in the guard

·  No slippery substances on the head, body area or Gi / Kimono

·  No Unsportsmanlike Conduct, Goading or Talking back to the Referees, Officials, Coach’s, Spectators, or your Opponent/s

Players must not go Higher than One Knee Up, and are not allowed to stand up on both Feet but only to Pass the Guard etc*.

Players Age 15 years old and under

·  No standing*

·  No Arm, Elbow and Shoulder Locks

·  No Chokes

·  Can win by pin/hold down and countdown, tap out or by Referee’s score and/or decision

Players Age 16 years old and above

·  No standing*

·  Arm, Elbow and Shoulder Locks allowed (Which must Not be Applied in a Snapping or Jerking Motion)

·  Chokes allowed (Except for using the Hand or Fist at the throat to Close the Wind Pipe) (All Chokes must be Applied in a Squeezing Motion Only)

·  Can win via pin/hold down, countdown, tap out or by Referee’s score and/or decision

Pins / Hold-Down Times and Scoring

·  5 seconds; Koka (if Koka or combination is scored etc, at the end of the round, player wins) 5 points

·  10 seconds; Yuko (if Yuko or combination is scored etc, at the end of the round, player wins) 10 points

·  15 seconds; Wazari (if Wazari or combination is scored etc, at the end of the round, player wins) 15 points

·  20 seconds; Ippon and Win

If Two Wazari ‘s are scored in a bout, then the bout is stopped with the Player scoring the Two Wazari being declared the Winner.

If an equal draw, the Final decision is given by the Tatami Referee based on any penalties and warnings given, offensive attacks and attempts to pin, submit and win etc, The Tatami Referee’s Decision is FINAL.

Player Bout Times

·  Players 15 years old and under: 2 minutes per bout

·  Players 16 years old and over: 3 minutes per bout

Player Warnings and Penalties:

1st Warning is without Penalty

2nd Warning with Yuko Penalty minus 15 points

3rd Warning: Wazari Penalty minus 10 points

4th and Final is an Instant and Automatic Disqualification from the Bout and Category

Players Must Weigh In Without the Gi / Kimono

* One knee must remain on the mat at all times for the exception of when a Player is taking the opponents back or on your own back etc.

IMASA Championship Details and Information

·  Competitors must wear a clean and suitable Type of Wrap Over Judo / Ju-Jitsu Gi / Kimono / Suit, Blue and Red Belts will be provided on the Day for all the Players.

·  Other Optional equipment that is allowed and can be worn: Groin Guard, Gum Shield, Ankle, Knee and Elbow Supports.

·  All Players are expected to remain seated during the course of their particular Category until the final announcements are made, this will ensure the smooth running of the Categories and Championships.

·  All Licences, Grades and Insurance etc, must be current, up to date and valid. It is the responsibility of the Player and their Instructor, Coach and/or Guardian etc, to make sure the above are all in order, please bring along for stamping.

·  A Fully Qualified First Aider will be in attendance at the Championships all day until and through to Completion etc.

·  There is 1 FREE Coach’s Pass for a Club Team Member/Players and there are 2 FREE Coach’s Passes for 10 and above Club Team Member / Players.

·  If your Club has a Qualified or Experienced Referee’s or Volunteer Table Officials such as a Score Keepers and/or Timekeepers etc, and apart from having the best Front Line Seat at the Championships you will have the Best View too, to include free Tea or Coffee. ·  The Venue will be open from 10.30am in the morning on the Day of the Championships for everyone to be able to Sign In, Register and Weigh In etc.

·  Peewee Weigh In is from 10.30am to 9.00am, Junior and Cadet Weigh In is from 10:30am to 11.00am, Adult Weigh In is from 11.00am to 12.00pm and the Masters and Veterans Weigh In is from 11.00pm to 12.00pm. All Player Weigh In’s must be done “Without the Gi”. There are No Weight Restrictions in the Absolute / Open Weight Categories.

·  Eliminations Will Begin at approximately10:45am promptly beginning with the Peewee and Junior Categories first, (so please don’t be late registering, weighing in and signing in etc) and the Championships will finish/end no later than 5.00pm, so this allows for everyone to get away and hence, be on they’re journey home at a reasonable and sensible time etc.

·  All Winners Medals will be presented immediately on completion of each and every Category by the Tatami Referee.

·  The Absolute Open Weight Categories are Open to all and any Weight Player within the relevant Age (16+) and Categories etc, so if you wish to Enter this Category as an Extra Category within your applicable age group etc, you can do so.

·  Bout Eliminations are by way of either Straight Knockout with Finals or Knockout with Pool Combination Finals or Pools.

·  Cameras and Video Cameras are allowed and can be used, please register them and your details on the forms attached for each and every video recorder as you will be issued with a pass on entry to allow you to use Video Camcorders/Recorders etc, we do not charge a fee, but please, do not film in or around the immediate Competition Areas, please film only from the Spectator Seating Areas.

·  The Organisers reserve the right to either amalgamate, change, add or remove any under subscribed Categories.

·  All Category Entry Forms must be sent back to the Championships Organiser; Paul Chambers or Curt Walker by E Mail: or

·  All Cheques or Postal Orders (£ Sterling Only) to be made payable to the A.J.J.A and Posted to the address below, and send them at least 5-7 working days prior to 30th August to allow Cheques to clear and be paid.

·  No Player Entry Fees will be refunded whatsoever should any Player Not Turn Up, Not Enter, Not Compete, Get Disqualified or Get Injured etc, or should any Player decide not to enter or compete in any Categories that are amalgamated, changed or added.

·  All Category Entry Forms and Entry Fees must reach us by no later than the Closing Date: 31st August 2012.

·  No Player Entries or Fees will be allowed or accepted after the Closing/Clearing Date; 31st August 2012 and No Entries will be allowed or accepted on the actual day of the Championships, so please don’t ask.
