The City of Slater is now accepting applications for Pool Manager
Managers must direct and supervise daily operation and staff of the Slater swimming pool to ensure safety and a well ran facility. This is done by holding self and others accountable for expectations of regulations and tasks.
Summer 2016: Managers are required to have open availability. Hours to be available include 5:30am to 10pm on all weekdays, weekends and Holidays. Set up begins in Early April and will run through Mid-September.
Job duties that can and will change with needs of the pool
- Oversee and evaluate swimming pool staff and ensure they are adequately trained and completed necessary tasks. If not, the ability to provide corrective measures
- Oversee and maintain facility cleanliness inside and outside all City Pool areas
- Oversee and enforce security and safety
- Oversee and maintain facility operations, inventory and report maintenance needs
- Oversee and maintain filtration processes and chemical application
- Oversee and enforce staff training, meetings, special events and revenue processing
- Set up and run swimming lesson program which includes teaching if needed
- Monitor patrons at swimming pool to prevent accidents by enforcing all pool rules and regulations and prepared to communicate with disruptive patrons if necessary
- Respond quickly to all emergency situations and administer First Aid and CPR as necessary
- AGAIN, DUTIES CAN BE ADDED OR CHANGED DEPENDING ON NEEDS OF THE SLATER POOL
Required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have or be able to obtain an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification that includes CPR for the professional rescuer, First Aid and AED certifications.
- Must maintain fitness and skill proficiency applicable to an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- 20/20 vision
- Corrected or uncorrected
- Hearing within the normal range
- Corrected or uncorrected

Lifeguards provide everyone with a safe place to swim, learn, grow and play. You will maintain a safe swimming environment in and around the pool. You will be able to relate to people in a positive manner to build relationships with all who enter the pool.
Summer 2016: Lifeguards are required to have open availability. Availability needs to include but not limited to 9am to 7:30pm.
Jobs Duties that can and will change with needs of the Pool
- Follow and Enforce rules and procedures
- Keep pool and surrounding areas free of obstructions and safety hazards
- Provide and maintain clean pool area and surroundings
- Maintain constant surveillance of the water and surrounding areas
- Handle equipment as assigned to ensure safety
- Record chemical readings
- Know emergency procedures and is able to demonstrate them
- Maintain emergency equipment
- Respond to all emergencies
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff
- Ability to accept constructive feedback and apply it as needed
- Assist with performing swim lessons
Qualifications
- Lifeguards must be 15 years of age
- Bathhouse/Front Desk must be 14 years of age
- Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functions
- Must have or be able to obtain American Red Cross CPR-PR/AED/First Aid Certification Training Program
- Must have or be able to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- 20/20 Vision
- With correction or uncorrected
- Hearing within normal range
- With correction or uncorrected
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to adapt to busy and changing conditions, while remaining alert
- Ability to perform strenuous physical activity
- Ability to attend trainings, meetings and special events as necessary
- Ability to hold self-accountable with minimal supervision
