The Manager of College Readiness is directly responsible for the management of a team of AmeriCorps coaches and the success of over one hundred students. The Manager of College Readiness will work within a team of dedicated full-time staff to lead departmental trainings andprograms while also having ownership and responsibility for various projects including benchmarks aligned to college readiness indicators and test preparation.
Your responsibilities:
Support Student Growth and Success:
Provide comprehensive case management by maintaining regular contact with assigned caseload (approximatively 100 students) by scheduling frequent coaching sessions to deliver personalized, motivating and actionable guidance
Prepare and deliver lessons to all students in class or workshop formats
Assign work to students aligned to college success benchmarks
Consistently collect, record, analyze and interpret student information on student progress including milestones and deliverables to guide coaching conversations
Serve as the main point of contact for parents and families through phone calls, home visits and meetings at school or College Bound office in order to encourage participation in college success process
Coordinate College Readiness Program:
Assess student’s early academic readiness indicators in preparation for standardized testing
Ensure student ACT readiness by managing test preparation programming, partnering with external test prep providers, and collaborating with school partners
Develop a calendar of student services and programs that include community service, cultural experiences, career exposure, academic enrichment opportunities, summer programs, and more
Ensures students commitment to college success through perpetual alignment
Coordinate Summer Academic enrichment program for rising Junior students focusing on academic enrichment, youth development, and community building
With Director of College Counseling, support students in applying to selective summer programs
Lead Team of AmeriCorps Coaches:
Recruit, hire, train, support, and evaluate a team of College Preparation Coaches who design and deliver coaching support to high school students
Ensure excellence and integrity of program delivery through observation, coaching support, and ongoing professional development
Track progress toward performance measures on monthly, quarterly, and yearly cycles; set benchmarks, evaluate outcomes, and drive continuous improvement based on data
Set priorities for your team, communicate expectations, lead weekly meetings, and aid in logistics and planning for classes and events
Maintain a strong working knowledge and awareness of best practices in the fields of college readiness, academic development,test preparation, and youth development
Other Responsibilities:
Collaborate with team of managers and Director of College Success on longitudinal planning and alignment of student support services
Collaborate closely with our Wellness Team toward shared mental health outcomes
Partner with the AmeriCorps Coordinator to communicate and administer AC policies and procedures
Supervise and assist with the scheduling of student rides and logistics
Ensure fidelity to budget, including prompt and accurate financial tracking and reporting
Additional duties and special projects as assigned
Skills and experience:
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of two years’ experience working with economically disadvantaged, first generation youth from diverse backgrounds, especially college students, required
Experience serving with or as AmeriCorps, preferred
1 – 2 years’ experience managing projects, people and programming, preferred
Effective communicator, able to use inclusive and empowering language to translate messages effectively for diverse audiences
Adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
Computer proficiency, required; experience using a database to manage student information, preferred
