Report on the first half of fiscal 2011/2012:

Bertrandt’s encouraging business performance continues

(Ehningen, 9 May 2012) The Bertrandt Group remained on its growth trajectory in the first half of its 2011/2012 fiscal year. The provider of engineering services posted a 27.7 percent increase in revenues to EUR 342 million (previous year: EUR 267.8 million). This was accompanied by a rise in operating profit to EUR 36.3 million (previous year EUR 27.9 million), while net profit after taxes climbed to EUR 26 million (previous year EUR 19.9 million). As of 31 March 2012, Bertrandt had 9,355 employees (previous year 7,592).

More development work underpinned by intact market drivers

“The engineering market is offering us interesting conditions in Germany in particular. This is due to trends in favour of environmentally friendly mobility, greater comfort and heightened safety,” explained Dietmar Bichler, the Chairman of Bertrandt AG’s Management Board, commenting on the conditions underlying the company’s favourable business performance. He went on to say that model diversity was generating increased engineering requirements, which carmakers were addressing with the assistance of external service providers such as Bertrandt. As a partner with broad and detailed engineering expertise in the automotive and aviation industries, Bertrandt was benefiting from the additional demand. At the end of the first half of its fiscal year, Bertrandt posted revenues of EUR 342 million (previous year EUR 267.8 million), translating into an increase of 27.7 percent.Operating profit climbed by 30.2 percent to EUR 36.3 million (previous year EUR 27.9 million), equating to a margin of 10.6 percent (previous year 10.4 percent). Net profit after taxes came to EUR 26 million (previous year EUR 19.9 million).According to Dietmar Bichler, the Company wants to take advantage of business opportunities and continue growing on the strength of its solid financial foundations. “Provided that the underlying economic conditions remain stable, we see future potential for successfully positioning our company in the market thanks to the fundamentally intact market drivers.”

752 new jobs created in the Bertrandt Group

In the first half of fiscal 2011/2012, Bertrandt was able to recruit
752 new employees. As of 31 March 2012, it had a total of
9,355 employees, an increase of 1,763 over the same period one year earlier (7,592 employees as of 31 March 2011). Recruitment of new staff extended across all parts of the Group and is also to be continued in the future. The latest information on the roughly
