JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Infrastructure Technical System Administrator

RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Technology & Facilities

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Responsible for the network and server infrastructure and technical support of business applications across the business.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

·  The Infastructure Technical System Administrator is accountable for investigating and analysing feasibility of system requirements and developing system specifications. Identifying methods, solutions, and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the business.

·  Monitor and maintain servers.

·  Analyze log files and investigate and correct or record errors that are discovered.

·  Ensure backup processes function correctly and backup all data as per the policies

·  Configure network devices such as layer 2 and 3 switches.

·  Work with systems for endpoint device management. Includes software distribution, updates, patching virus protection, and imaging.

·  Assist with network account creation and troubleshooting.

·  Develop and maintain scripts and programs that automate repetitive tasks and data transfer in the Network Operations Centre.

·  Clearly document features, technical specifications, and infrastructure requirements for self-produced technical work and job processes.

·  Provide management and administrative support of digital communication systems; including training and orientation for staff and administrations. This may include service to partner organizations.

·  Ensure that helpdesk tickets are closed or escalated promptly.

·  Ensure regularly scheduled technical tasks are accomplished on time.

·  Monitor industry trends, technologies, and standards.

·  Research, recommend, and apply new technologies as they emerge.

·  Provide guidance and training to other technicians.

·  Any other reasonable task, as requested by Line Manager.

·  A high level working knowledge of most of the following:

o  Internet protocols, VPN and Firewalls.

o  VMware, Vmotion or similar virtualization technology.

o  Veeme backup software or similar

o  Support of network print systems and servers.

o  Network trouble shooting, monitoring, and maintenance tools and techniques.

o  Basic web technologies such as Microsoft IIS and TomCat.

o  Encryption and certificates.

o  Active Directory and LDAP integration.

o  WAN’s, LAN’s, MPLS, ADSL

o  Citrix thinclient technology

o  SQL servers and SQL query language.

Requirements:

·  To have achieved, or be working toward, a recognised technical computing qualification.

·  Educated to A level standard with minimum of GCSE in English and Maths.

·  Understanding of the principles of thin client terminals and thick client PC’s and laptops.

·  High knowledge of applications such as Vmware, SQL, Active Directory, windows server etc.

·  Highly experienced in supporting Windows Server networking components including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, MS Exchange.

·  Experience in supporting a Microsoft Office Desktop, or equivalent.

·  Detailed technical skills and abilities in MS Applications, Network hardware, virtualisation, cloud services

·  An ability to logically and methodically diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware issues.

·  Flexible and adaptable to change.

·  Ability to demonstrate personal commitment to the role

·  Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

·  Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·  Experience in delivering results

·  Experience with Information handling/decision making

·  An ability to demonstrate behaviour in keeping with the Firm’s values.
