The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - Final Project Choices (Pick One)

1. MAP - Create a geographically correct map that charts Huck’s travels.
I. Content: Include the following:
A. at least 9 important towns/locations/houses (places that Huck goes)
B. at least 3 locations where Huck has a major battle with his conscience
C. map at least 3 locations where Huck tells a significant/major lie
II. Each mapped location must have a 2-5 sentence explanation detailing the important event(s) that happen there.
A. explanations must be typed or neatly handwritten in ink
B. explanations must be free of spelling/grammatical errors
III. Other requirements
A. map must have a key to differentiate the lies, conscience battles, etc.
- map may not be done on notebook paper and should be visually appealling
- map should have some creative elements (color, texture, etc.)
2. GAME - Create a game that is about Huck Finn.
I. Presentation
A. must be done on a material other than paper
B. game boards must be FULLY decorated and visually appealing
- must have attractive, decorated, size appropriate packaging
- all written elements must be typed
NO GAMES WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT A BOX (bags are not acceptable)
II. Content
- games must contain at least 30 NUMBERED questions about Huck Finn – You must make these questions up yourself. You CAN NOT use any study guide questions or quiz questions or any other sources!
B. questions should be clear and specific (avoid vague, general or opinion questions)
C. questions must be based on a range of the novel spanning from beginning to end- and must address the major events in the novel.
D. questions should address Huck’s lies and conflict battles
E. games must contain the answers; answers must be easily accessed!
F. games must include clear and detailed directions
NOTE: You may work with a partner if you do 65 NUMBERED questions
3. DIARY/SCRAPBOOK
I. Content: Include the following:
A. at least 15 pages/entries about the places Huck goes and what he does there:
these should be noteworthy and important experiences. Of these:
- at least 3 pages/entries about Huck struggling with a major conscience battle
- at least 3 pages/entries about Huck telling a significant lie
B. all entries must go in order as they happen in the book
C. there must be a page/entry about the ending of the novel
II. Written Requirements
A. each page must have between a 5-10 LINE explanation written from Huck’s point-of-view
B. entries should include Huck’s thoughts and feelings about the experience
C. all entries must be typed in Times New Roman, 12 point font
D. all entries must be free of spelling/grammatical errors
III. Other requirements
A. all pages should be decorated and filled with scrapbook extras
B. scrapbooks may not be done on notebook paper; they should be visually appealling
C. scrapbooks can include fabricated items such as newspaper articles, letters, ticket stubs, etc.
OTHER
If you have another idea such as a video project (tv show, video diary, game show, news report), newspaper, web site, etc. you may submit a proposal. Proposals MUST resemble the assignment sheet: typed outlines listing the content and presentation requirements that you will follow. Proposals will be taken up until Wednesday, December 7th
