Job Title:Volunteer Co-ordinator

Location:Gloucester Based

Responsible to:Communications manager

Salary: £16,551 for 30 hours per week

(£20,413 FTE)

Main Purpose of the Job

To recruit, develop and manage a team of volunteers to support the organisation and carers in a number of ways including distributing information to all GP surgeries in the county on a regular basis to help raise the profile of Carers Gloucestershire and to ensure Carers have access to up to date and relevant information.

To explore and identify further opportunities for volunteer working within the organisation that add value to, and support, the objective of promoting the rights and improving the lives of all Carers in the County

Key Accountabilities

  • Recruit, select and manage volunteer workers to contribute to the delivery of the organisation.
  • Identify any training needs of the volunteer workers and arrange delivery of training and development solutions to meet those needs.
  • Run awareness and recruitment events to spread the word about Carers Gloucestershire and the work we do to help with the identification and recruitment of volunteer workers.
  • Support volunteers on a one to one and team basis, with socials and supervision, organising meetings and other events.
  • Continue to develop and deliver regular communication vehicles for keeping all volunteers informed about what’s going on in Carers Gloucestershire.
  • Work with GP Surgeries in their aim to support carers, including providing information and resources and meeting with them. Continue to develop and support Surgery Link Visitor volunteers with meetings, training and supervision.
  • Help staff to better manage and support those volunteering alongside them.
  • Maintain a database of all volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain a rolling twelve month programme of volunteering initiatives that add value to the core objectives of Carers Gloucestershire, including supporting the Fundraiser to develop the ambassador role and helping to develop the organisations membership scheme.

General

Teamwork is essential to the smooth running of the organisation and all members are required to play an active part. Staff duties include helping to maintain cover in the office, dealing with calls from Carers and following all the policies and procedures of the organisation. Everyone has a responsibility to work co-operatively and in collaboration with all members to ensure that the organisation meets the requirements of the service level agreements it has entered into.

Job Circumstances

Some evening and weekend work may be necessary for which time off in lieu can be taken. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle, or full access to equivalent transport is required. All work locations operate no smoking policies.

Location

The role is based in Gloucester, however the jobholder may be required from time to time to work anywhere within the county of Gloucestershire.
