1RULES

1.1The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2The prescriptions and special regulations Part 2 of Yachting Australia will apply.

1.3The championship rules of the TCAA and Taipan class rules will apply.

2ADVERTISING

Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

3ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1The regatta is open to all boats of the Taipan and Capricorn catamaran classes.

3.2Skipper and crew shall be financial members of a sailing club affiliated with a State Yachting Authority and have a current Yachting Australia membership

3.3The skipper must be a financial member of the Taipan and Capricorn Catamaran Association of Australia.

3.4Eligible boats may enter online at

3.5Online entries close at 2359 hours on Friday 27th December 2013

3.6Beach entries will be accepted up until the close of registration on Saturday 28th December 2013

4FEES

4.1Required fees are as follows:

6MEASUREMENTS

Each boat shall comply with valid measurements or ratings as required by the respective class rules of the Taipan and Capricorn Association

In addition all Taipans will be weighed and sails checked during registration, this will not apply to Capricorns/ C2s that are able to produce a valid F18 measurement certificate. Capricorn crews and skippers will be weighed during registration.

NOTE: a boat may be inspected for compliance with the class rules and sailing instructions at anytime during the regatta, at the discretion of the race committee.

Subject to the availability of the measurer, there may be an opportunity for boats to be weighed and sails checked prior to the regatta, Details will be postedon the website when dates and venues becomes available.

7SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be availableafter 1600 hours on Friday 20th December online at the following website: sailing.rqys.com.au.

8VENUE

8.1Attachment A shows the location ofthe regatta harbour.

8.2Attachment B shows the location ofthe racing areas.

9THE COURSES

The courses to be sailed will be as listed in the sailing instructions

10SCORING

10.1Four races are required to be completedto constitute a series.

10.2(a) When fewer than fiveraces havebeen completed, a boat’s series scorewill be the total of her race scores.

(b) When fromfive to eightraceshave been completed, a boat’s seriesscore will be the total of her racescores excluding her worst score.

(c) When nine or more races have beencompleted, a boat’s series score willbe the total of her race scoresexcluding her two worst scores.

11SUPPORT BOATS

Support boats shall be marked with RC flags.

12RADIO COMMUNICATION

Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction applies also to mobile telephones.

13PRIZES

Prizes will be given as follows:

Division One (Cats): 1st, 2nd 3rd

Division Two (Sloops): 1st, 2nd, 3rd

Division Three (5.7 & Capricorn): dependant on numbers

Division Four (Vipers): dependant on numbers

14DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

15INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $5,000,000 AUD$ per incident or the equivalent. Proof of this may be requested at registration.

17ACCOMODATION

Ample and varied accommodation is available in the local area. Early bookings are recommended.

The Manly Marina Cove Motel is located on the grounds of RQYS –

The Yachting Queensland building also within the RQYS ground has limited dormitory style accommodation. Email for bookings.

Camping facilities are available in the grounds of RQYS – please contact Reception 07 3396 8666. Powered sites are limited.
