Subj: LETTER OF INSTRUCTION FOR MIDWAY HIGH SCHOOL MARINE CORPS

JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS (MCJROTC) 2017 DRILL CAMP

(1)  Situation. From 10 – 13 July 2017, the Midway High School MCJROTC will conduct a Close Order Drill Camp from 10 – 13 July, 0900 - 1200.

(2)  Mission. SgtMaj Chris Combs from College Park HS, The Woodland will be the lead instructor. In 3 years, SgtMaj Combs started College Parks MCJROTC from the ground up and led them to the Region 5 and National Champions this year. SgtMaj Combs is a former Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and is a duty expert on Drill and Ceremonies.

(3)  Execution.

a.  Commander’s Intent.

(1)  Purpose: I want to inject enthusiasm and Esprit de Corps into our Cadets in order to establish and maintain a competitive Drill Team.

(2)  Method: A training schedule will be published and followed by the MCJROTC cadet staff and closely supervised by the Senior Marine Instructor and Marine Instructor.

(3) Endstate: An experience of learning, mentoring, and

professional leadership to prepare for MHS MCJROTC to

build, sustain and compete at Drill e3vents across Region

5. The Cadet have to take ownership of this team and lead

from the front in all aspects. The top three I refer to as

the 3 P’s:

1) Passing-they must stay passing in all classes

2) Practice-they must attend all practices in

order to be a effectively function unit

3) Participate-they must make a commitment to

participate in Drill events. This is their Drill

Team!

b. Attendance. The MCJROTC Drill Camp is mandatory for all 2017 – 2018 Command element Cadets and highly encouraged for all cadets interested in joining the Drill Team.

c. Coordinating Instructions.

(1)  Uniform for Drill Camp will be Midway ISD appropriate

PT gear (shorts/shirt/athletic type shoes-no boots cleats etc.)

(2)  Cadet staff will immediately gather accountability of

all cadets each training day promptly at 0900.

(3)  Cadet staff will arrive to the JROTC classroom at

0800 each training day for preparation time.

(4)  Lunch or food will not be provided. Cadets will be

released each day at 1200 in order to allow them time for lunch.

(5) There will be a $25.00 fee associated with this Camp. Make checks payable to Midway ISD. Fees are due prior to 0900 the morning Camp begins. (10 July)

(4)  Administration and Logistics.

a.  All key personnel (cadet leadership) will

familiarize themselves with this letter of instruction and

enclosure (1).
