A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Reverend Harold Forrest Pendleton.

WHEREAS, Harold Forrest Pendleton was born on May 30, 1932, in Montgomery County, Tennessee, the son of the late Charlie and Hattie Mae Meriweather Pendleton; and

WHEREAS, Harold Forrest Pendleton, who made his home in Hopkinsville, was a retired pharmacy technician and a clerk at Western State Hospital, where he worked for 32 years; and

WHEREAS, as a minister, Reverend Pendleton served churches in and near the Pennyrile region of Kentucky, including Lane Tabernacle CME Church, Hopkinsville, where he ministered for 13 years, and at Mayes Chapel CME Church, Cadiz, Spellman Chapel CME Church, Allensville, Mount Zion CME Church, Elkton, and at Phillips Chapel CME Church, Sturgis; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Pendleton was a member of Freeman Chapel CME Church and the Half-Century Club; and

WHEREAS, Harold Forrest Pendleton was active in many endeavors, graduating from the Focus 21st Century Program, and serving on the Joint Board of Finance and the Christian Education Board at the Kentucky conference. He was a member of the Bridge Builders and also the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Pendleton is survived by his wife, Mariette White Pendleton; a daughter, Carol Lynn Pendleton Arthur, Hopkinsville; three sons, Arthur DeWayne Pendleton, and Harold Pendleton Jr., both of Hopkinsville, and Michael D. Pendleton, Fayetteville, North Carolina; a brother, Bernice Pendleton, Guthrie; and 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Harold Forrest Pendleton departed this earthly life on February 6, 2012, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, Hopkinsville, and an entire community joins the family and friends in mourning his passing;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The Senate does hereby express its deepest sympathy upon the passing of Reverend Harold Forrest Pendleton and extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, many friends, and his community.

âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Reverend Harold Forrest Pendleton.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Joey Pendleton for delivery to the family.
