The society requests that ponies entered in the show are accompanied by their passports, as required by the horse passports order.
Please make sure that all droppings around the lorries/trailers are picked up at the end of the show as the park is open to the general public. This is one of the conditions of hire.
This show is affiliated to the Dales Pony Society.
All ponies must be registered within the main body of the DPS stud book. Competitors
need to be members to compete.
*NPS Membership Criteria*
- Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members and at Breed Shows ponies can qualify for the final even if their owners are not NPS members.
- The owner of a pony qualifying at a Breed Show must become an NPS Qualifying member for the pony to enter the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show.
- At Breed Shows ponies can win Silver Medal Rosettes even if their owners are not members of the NPS but they must become NPS Qualifying members to enter the final.
NPS Qualifying Rounds, Breed Show Rules: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible for Mountain & Moorland Classes.
Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members and at breed shows ponies can qualify for finals even if their owners are not members. Owners of qualified ponies must become adult Qualifying or Life members to enter the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern from 31st July -2nd August2018.
The highest placed pony, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified.
NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show.
NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championships, Breed Show Rules: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. At breed shows Silver Medals may be won by non-members. The owner of the qualified pony must become an Adult Qualifying or Life member to enter the final. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships.
TSR Riders & In Hand ShowingFinals – This show is a qualifier for the 2018 TSR Showing Finals. Qualify and enter ANY of the Finals Central, East Anglia, North West, North East, South East, South, Wales & South West or Scottish. You Do Not have to be a TSR member to qualify or enter a final. The Rider/Handler qualifies and can enter any horse/pony in any number of Finals!
TSR Riders Finals – 1st & 2nd riders qualify and will receive a qualification card in the ring.
TSR In Hand Finals – The two highest placed Handlers with a TSR In Hand Card will qualify in any In Hand class. Handlers MUST have their cards signed in the ring by the judge/steward; cards are available FREE from the TSR website. Full details at

BSHA Grass Roots Champs & SHGB BRC Champs – With a TSR qualification card you can also enter the BSHA Grass Roots Champs on in Sept at Addington Equestrian Centre – Seefor more info & eligibility.

6. The NPS/SARACEN HORSE FEEDS M&M Home Produced In Hand National Championship (MM-HPIH)
This class is open to pure bred registered M&M ponies which are either stabled at home or in a DIY yard and which since 1st January in the current year have not been shown by a producer or stabled in a producer’s yard other than on a DIY basis or at stud. To be owned/kept, produced, ridden/handled by a person who does not derive their main income from working with horses/ponies. No professional producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the horse/pony. Please see NPS 2018 Rule Book, Sec A, 3.6. Please enter this class in the spirit it is intended. Competitors who contravene the above will be disqualified.

A pony is not eligible to compete if, before 1st January in the current year, it has done any of the following:
i.Won an open NPS affiliated mixed M&M Ridden class
ii.Qualified for Horse of the Year Show, Olympia or RIHS Open M&M Ridden classes
iii.Qualified for the M&M Novice or Intermediate Ridden final at the NPS Summer Championship show (N.B. Ponies can compete as novices in this competition for two consecutive years provided they do not submit an entry to the final in the first year).
iv.If a pony qualifies for Horse of the Year Show, Olympia or RIHS in its second year it is immediately de-noviced and cannot compete in the Picton Final.

RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY.
The show is confined to members of the Dales Pony Society, whose subscriptions are fully paid up at the time of entry and whose ponies are registered in the Dales Pony Society Stud Book, or in Sections B, C, or D of its appendix registers.
It is the responsibility of every exhibitor to ensure that all riders, drivers and handlers are fully paid up members of the Society, including competitors within classes 7 and 14. This is for insurance purposes.
Misrepresentations of any exhibit other than its true form or colour will cause it to be banned from the show, and may cause its registration to be erased from the Stud Book and the owners to be removed from the membership list.
The judges decision is final.
The organisers may split, amalgamate, cancel or rearrange classes as they think fit.
Trophies must be returned to the secretary on request.
All ponies must be shown clockwise round the ring.
Long whips are debarred. Riding canes or sticks only are allowed to be carried by handlers.
Any fall in a ridden class is elimination from that class.
No spurs allowed in any ridden classes.
Correctly secured current British Standard skull caps/riding hats must be worn at all times when mounted. A competitor whose hat comes off, or chin strap comes undone whilst competing must, on penalty of elimination replace it or fasten it before continuing. They may dismount without penalty to recover the hat or have it passed up from the ground, or may stop without penalty to fasten the strap.
An exhibitor must not knowingly exhibit a pony bred, sold, leased or produced by the judge or a member of his/her immediate family.
Breaches of the above, or any other Society rule will be reported by the stewards to the secretary, who will place them before the show organisers for a ruling.
Neither the Society or the show organiser, or show officials or servants will be responsible for anything that may happen from cause or circumstances whatever to exhibitors or their servants, or the public, or any spectator, or through or to any animal or vehicle exhibited at the show and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall not hold the show organisers or the Society responsible and that he/she indemnify the show organisers and the Society against any legal proceedings arising from any such cause or circumstances.
