Monday Project Read and Spelling---Unit 17 Review Lesson 3 Skill: Ending Blends –ld, -lk, -lp, -lt, and Lesson 4 Skill: red words many, any

Introduce Lesson 5 Skill: Ending blends –ft, -pt, -ct

Teacher will display –ld and students will skywrite 2 times. Class will also review –ld by rereading worksheet 17-37 (-ld words and sentences containing –ld words).

Teacher will display –lk and students will skywrite 2 times. Class will also review –lk by rereading worksheet 17-41 (-lk words and sentences containing –lk words).

Teacher will display –lp and students will skywrite 2 times. Class will also review –lp by rereading worksheet 17-45 (-lp words and sentences containing –lp words).

Teacher will display –lt and students will skywrite 2 times. Class will also review –lt by rereading worksheet 17-49 (-lt words and sentences containing –lt words).

Class will arm tap and sweep red words any and many 5 times each.

Teacher will place worksheet 17-59 under the document camera. Students will practice reading and discussing sentences.

Teacher will place the story, “Many Things” under the document camera. Students will practice reading and discussing the story. An oral reading check will be done. Teacher will leave the story up while students complete a short comprehension quiz over the story. After teacher takes up the quizzes, students will use the story to discuss what they should have marked on the quiz.

Teacher will place the story, “With Any Luck” under the document camera. Students will practice reading and discussing the story. An oral reading check will be done. Teacher will leave the story up while students complete a short comprehension quiz over the story. on the quiz.

Lesson 5---Teacher will display the following ending blends: -st, -sk, -sp, -nt, -nd, -mp, -ld, -lp, -lk, -lt and say what are these letters? Ending blends. You have learned ten of the 13 ending blends. In this lesson, you will learn the 3 other ending blends. Teacher will display the other 3 ending blends: -ft, -pt, -ct.

Teacher will display –ft and say dash, /f/, /t/, /ft/. Students will skywrite –ft 3 times. Teacher will tell students that this ending blend is heard in the word soft. Teacher will place worksheet 17-67 (-ft words and sentences containing –ft words) under the document camera. Students will practice reading the words 2 times, once with finger blending and once with tap and sweep. Vocabulary of the words will be discussed as needed. Then students will read and discuss the sentences. This worksheet will be sent home for reading homework.

Spell Tabs—Students will head a piece of notebook paper with spell tabs at the top, name and date underneath. Teacher will dictate the following words and sentences (whatever there is time for). Students will write and discuss, check, and correct their work afterward.

For the remainder of the time if any, students will work on their spelling homework.

Teacher will display –ft. Students will skywrite this ending blend 2 times. Teacher will place worksheet 17-67 under the document camera and students will practice rereading –ft words and sentences containing –ft words.

Teacher will display –pt and say dash, /p/, /t/, /pt/. Students will skywrite –pt 3 times. Teacher will tell students that this ending blend is heard in the word kept. Teacher will place worksheet 17-71 (-pt words and sentences containing –pt words) under the document camera. Students will practice reading the words 2 times, once with finger blending and once with tap and sweep. Vocabulary of the words will be discussed as needed. Then students will read and discuss the sentences. This worksheet will be sent home for reading homework.

Teacher will place worksheet 17-75 (-ct words and sentences containing –ct words) under the document camera. Students will practice reading the words 2 times, once with finger blending and once with tap and sweep. Vocabulary of the words will be discussed as needed. Teacher will display –ft. Students will skywrite this ending blend 2 times. Teacher will place worksheet 17-67 under the document camera and students will practice rereading –ft words and sentences containing –ft words.

Teacher will display –pt. Students will skywrite this ending blend 2 times. Teacher will place worksheet 17-71 under the document camera and students will practice rereading –pt words and sentences containing –pt words.

Teacher will display –ct. Students will skywrite this ending blend 2 times. Teacher will place worksheet 17-75 under the document camera and students will practice rereading –ct words and sentences containing –ct words.

Teacher will place the story, “A Picnic on a Raft” under the document camera. Students will practice rereading and discussing the story. An oral reading check will be done on the story. Teacher will leave the story up while students complete a short comprehension quiz over the story. After teacher takes up the quizzes, students will discuss what answers that they should have marked on the quiz.

Teacher will place Jeweled Treasure Box worksheet 17-79 under the document camera. Class will practice reading the words and sentences. This worksheet will be sent home for reading homework.

Teacher will pass out Study Guide Unit 17B to students and ask the questions. Students will fill out their study guide and discuss, check, correct. This study guide will be sent home for students to practice for a test tomorrow.

Friday Project Read and Spelling---Unit 17 Lesson 5 Skill: Ending blends –ft, -pt, -ct

Students will skywrite –ft, -pt, and –ct 2 times and an oral reading check will be done on worksheets 17-67, 17-71, 17-75, and 17-79.

Students will complete Unit 17B assessment (follow teacher directions page). Teacher will take those up.

Students will complete spelling assessment over the following words: raft, left, lift, swift, soft, kept, swept, act, fact, insect.
