Who’s Who & What’s What in the Revolutionary War?
Background:
We have just finished studying the important documents, events, people, and battles of the Revolutionary War. We know that each term was significant for a different reason. In science, we have built open and closed circuits controlling the flow of electrical energy.
Challenge:
Design and create a Revolutionary War game in which a buzzer sounds alerting the player that the correct match of a term to its importance has been selected.
Criteria:
- Your terms are related to the category your team selected.
- There is an image for each term.
- The text is typed.
- The information is accurate.
- The answer choices are in multiple choice, matching, or fill-in- the-blank format.
- The buzzer alerts when the correct answer is selected.
- The game uses no more than 2 buzzers.
- The rules for the game are stated.

Estimated Time:
Five sessions of 30-45 minutes
Teacher Suggestions:
The game format is determined by the group. It could be a board game or a Family Feud type game.
Students making a board game will be building a parallel circuit; competition game will require a series circuit.
Divide the students into groups of no more than 4.
Divide the terms into categories. eg. People, Battles, Events leading up to the War, Documents. Further divide larger categories if needed to meet the needs of the groups.
Create a folder of images the students can access on the laptops, or bookmark search engines students are permitted to use.
Assign or have groups draw cards for category assignment.
