1. Fee Schedule – Non Profit Organisation Rates

(Effective 1st January 2008)

THEATRE / $50.00+ GST per day or part thereof (10AM to 12 midnight)
$20.00 + GST per hour past midnight will apply.
Included in theatre hire fee:
Use of stage and auditorium
Foyer and ticket office
Dressing rooms
General cleaning and janitorial supplies
Utilities
THEATRE TECHNICIAN
Mandatory at all times that the theatre is in use whilst the hirer is utilising playhouse equipment. / Charges are as follows:
$23.00 +GST 5:30am and 6:30pm Monday to Friday;
$40.00 + GST per hour after 6.30pm Monday to Friday and
$40.00 per hour Saturday and Sunday.
*A minimum call out of four hours applies to all staff supplied for the venue.
PLAYHOUSE FRONT OF HOUSE
Mandatory at all times during performance or whenever the general public are in attendance of the theatre. / Charges are as follows :
$23.00 +GST per hour between 5:30am and 6:30pm; Monday to Friday
$40.00 + GST per hour after 6.30pm Monday to Friday
$40.00 per hour Saturday and Sunday.
*A minimum call out of four hours applies to all staff supplied for the venue.
SOUND SYSTEM / $60.00 per production per day.
STAGE LIGHTING AND CONTROL SYSTEM / $60.00 per production per day.
RESERVATION FEEShould booking be cancelled the reservation fee may not be refunded or partly refunded, depending on circumstances. / $50.00 for first day plus $25.00 for each additional day.
Payment is required with application for hire.
Reservation fee is held as a deposit to meet costs incurred by the hirer for power, gas, cleaning, repairs etc. These charges are calculated at cost after the hire period and accounted for to the hirer with either a refund for the remaining balance or invoiced for additional costs.
Note: Additional charges may be invoiced for repairs or for additional cleaning considered outside the standard application.

All costs are subject to GST.

2. Staff Requirements

A technician is mandatory at all times that the theatre is in use whilst the hirer is utilising playhouse equipment.

A charge of

$23.00 +GST 5:30am and 6:30pm Monday to Friday;

$40.00 +GST per hour after 6.30pm Monday to Friday and

$40.00 +GST per hour, Saturday and Sunday.

*A minimum call out of four hours applies to all staff supplied for the venue.

A front of house manager is mandatory at all times during performance or whenever the general public are in attendance of the theatre.

A charge of

$23.00 +GST per hour between 5:30am and 6:30pm; Monday to Friday

$40.00 + GST per hour after 6.30pm Monday to Friday

$40.00 per hour, Saturday and Sunday.

*A minimum call out of four hours applies to all staff supplied for the venue.

Technical and front of house staff will be engaged by the management of the facility and answerable to the management of the facility. The engagement of these two staff is to be taken as a minimum requirement for the operation of the venue. Any additional staff used must be of sufficient experience and standing to satisfy the standards of the Playhouse management.

Hirer Representative.

To assist in reducing the costs incurred to non profit organisations regarding the above mandatory requirements, the hirer and playhouse management retain the right to negotiate the appointment of a hirer representative. The nominated person must provide evidence of qualification and undertake an induction program.

Note: by signing the application form; the hirer agrees to ensure that all persons engaged to assist at the venue are suitably qualified and undertake to work within the guidelines of facility management in particular OH&S and licensing requirements.

3. Insurance

The Hirer must not do or leave undone or permit to be done or be left undone anything that might affect Charles Sturt University Insurance policies relating to fire or public risk.

The Hirer must indemnify the Centre to the extent that those policies are affected.

The Hirer must effect its own Public Liability insurance for not less than $10,000,000 per claim. A copy must be presented to the Manager prior to confirming a booking.

The Hirer is responsible for the insurance of all items and equipment brought into the Centre by the Hirer for the duration of the hire period.

The Hirer is responsible for Public Liability Insurance in respect of the Hirers use and occupation of the Centre.

The Hirer is responsible for Worker Compensation for both paid and volunteer staff, Personal Accident, Theft or breakages.

a) Hirer’s risk – the Hirer will use and occupy premises at the risk of the hirer and this Agreement hereby releases to the full extent permitted at law Charles Sturt University and it’s agents and contractors from all actions, claims of every kind resulting from –

(i)any accident, loss, damage or injury to persons or property occurring in the premises whilst occupied or used by the Hirer under the provisions of this Agreement and

(ii)Any loss or damage suffered by any person or persons arising out of the exercise by Charles Sturt University of any right or discretion under this Agreement.

Indemnity –

  1. The Hirer will and does hereby indemnify the Charles Sturt University from and against all actions, claims and demands of every kind for which the Charles Sturt University or its agents and contractors shall or may be liable in respect of or arising from any accident, loss damage or injury to persons or property by reason of anything done or omitted by the Hirer in connection with the theatre or the premises or under any of the provisions of this Agreement.
  2. a) The Hirer is not liable for any claim where that claim arises as a result of the act or omission of Charles Sturt University, it’s officers, employees, agents, contractors; and

b) CharlesSturtUniversity indemnifies the Hirer against any claims made against the Hirer and which arise directly from the acts or omissions of CharlesSturtUniversity, it’s officers, employees, agents, contractors.

THESE PROCEDURES ARE TO BE PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED AT THE COMMENCEMENT OF ANY FUNCTION

  1. (Ladies and Gentlemen) Please make yourself aware of the emergency exit nearest you.
  2. In the event of an emergency, please walk to the nearest exit and leave the building.
  3. Once you have left the building, please move to the assembly point as directed by our personnel.
  4. Please do not congregate on roadways or in other places which may obstruct the arrival of emergency vehicles.

Information for the Hirer:

  1. CharlesSturtUniversity established the Emergency Planning Committee (EPC) in 1997 in accordance with Australian Standard AS 3745, which sets out minimum standards in the approach to planning and management of emergency situations. The purpose of the Committee has been the planning and implementation of the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO), which is a structured group of people employed within a building who take command, on the declaration of an emergency in the building, facilitate safe and orderly implementation of emergency procedures within the building, including evacuation of occupants, pending the arrival of the fire brigade or other emergency service.
  2. As the hirer of this University Venue, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are adequately prepared for emergency evacuation of this building should the need arise.
  3. This may require the appointment of various staff / personnel from your organisation to fulfil the role of the ECO as mentioned above and effect the safe and orderly evacuation of all people from this building to the designated assembly area.
  4. Please make sure that you and other designated staff / personnel familiarise yourselves with the location of Emergency Exits from this building, location of the Assembly Point and location of Fire Extinguishers within the building, prior to the commencement of your function.
  5. Please ensure that someone within your organisation is nominated to phone the required Emergency Services as well as Campus Security using the nearest phone.
  6. Please familiarise yourself with the attached procedures
