Dear friends,
God’s Holy Word, the Bible, proclaims theREALITY of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Meditating on that One Great Victory over the grave, we reminisce. Since January19, 2018, we have seen several friends, prayers warriors and supporters, and faithful workers, brought into the presence of our Lord through death.
Irene W.– a friend since 1981, who always remembered birthdays, wrote often, prayed fervently, and showed generous hospitality when we visited in her home.
Del S. – a friend and roommate of Jerry’s from high school and college days back in the 1970’s!
Bruce H.–husband of Bev’s cousin, who, with his wife Millie, supported us and prayed for us since the beginning of our time in Brazil.
Carol J. – BGFM fellow missionary, and a great encourager! She and her husband continued to live in Brazil after their retirement until her home-going now at age 95.
Pastor José Maria – Brazilian pastor from our area in Brazil; one of Jerry’s first students at Antioch Bible Institute (2001-2005)! Since that time, he had pastored in the nearby coastal fishing town of Aranaú, until a year ago when cancer forced him to quit. One of the greatest testimonies given him was his focused zeal for evangelism—he had probably visited and shared the gospel with every home in that town!
Pastor Loren M. –retired pastor and fellow church member from Buhler, Kansas. Faithful to the very end, and just entered into the presence of the Risen Lord yesterday, March 31! He is celebrating the Resurrection with the Lord Himself!
We must also include Rev. Billy Graham –well-known, though not personally by us, butwho influenced and challenged our spiritual growth as youths as we listened to his radio broadcasts every Sunday.
"Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham [or any of these godly people] is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it.I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God." (Billy Graham)
May the lives of these who have gone before us continue to challenge us to greater godliness and to greater faithfulness in service to our Master! “Seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the racethat is set before us—looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith….”(Heb. 12:1,2a)
