Job Title:Boathouse Operations and Facilities Assistant

Supervisor: Director of Boathouse Operations

Position Summary: Row New York seeks a Boathouse Ops and Facilities Assistant to support our youth and adaptive rowing programs. This person will support across all three Row NY program sites in New York City, with specific attention to Brooklyn and Queens. The Boathouse Operations and Facilities Assistant will assist with the management, logistics, and repair of all Row New York rowing equipment and vehicles. This is a part-time role that will require 15-20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

●Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of facilities and grounds, including vehicles.

●Manage snow removal during the winter months.

●Ensure all programs have adequate gas for coaching launches.

●In consultation with the Director of Boathouse Operations and Program Managers, coordinate logistics and work directly with repair companies to ensure appropriate registration, inspection, and maintenance for Row New York vehicles.

●In consultation with the Director of Boathouse Operations and Brooklyn Program Manager, maintain regular service repairs on engines, launches, rowing shells, barges, oars, and ergs.

●Lead and attend boathouse days, working with programming staff to ensure all equipment is in working order.

●Monitor digital equipment inventory and provide input for capital equipment sales and purchases by meeting regularly with the Director of Boathouse Operations.

●Plan winterizing schedule and activity with the Director of Boathouse Operations and the Program Managers

●Spearhead equipment and facility prep for Row New York events held at the rowing sites.

●Maintain trailer inspection and service trailers as needed, coordinate the regatta itinerary with the programming staff, and drive trailer and boats to regattas as needed.

●Coordinate loading and transportation of ergs across programs and for events as needed.

Qualifications:

●Bachelor’s degree, preferred

●2 + years of rowing experience and a passion for the sport, preferred

●A strong team player who communicates well and manages people’s different priorities

●Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage short and long-term tasks and prioritize workload

●A stickler for on-water, travel, and boathouse safety

●Experience with marine repairs and maintenance of boating equipment

●Research skills and the ability to draw information from various sources

●Time management and project management skills

●Commitment to the mission of Row New York and the spirit of sports-based youth development

●Strong references

●Strong work ethic coupled with an enthusiastic and passionate approach to work

●Strong oral communication and writing skills, ability to communicate with sensitivity and to work with diverse populations

●Proactive problem solver who demonstrates initiative and ability to work individually and on a team

●Ability to operate in a professional manner including proper attire, ethical behavior

●Clean driver’s license

●Experience driving a shell trailer or willingness to learn within first 6 months of hire.
