Dismissal

We want to thank everyone for assisting us with a smooth dismissal process in the afternoon. We asked that parents and visitors use the front door to enter and exit the building to help keep the carpool/bus exit and the hallway near the gym and cafeteria clear for students. This helped tremendously this past week. We ask that you continue this process as our kindergarteners will be added to the dismissal process. Thank you again for your support.

Arrivals and Check-outs

Arrival to School: Students may not enter the building before 8 am, because we do not have staff available for proper supervision. If students arrive on campus before 8 am, they must wait outside the front entrance of the building and may not enter the building until the bell sounds. In the event of cold, windy or wet weather, they may wait in the space between the outer doors and inner doors, but they may not enter the building. However, please understand that during this time there is no adult designated to supervise students, which is why we ask that they not arrive on campus before 8 am.

Checking Out Students: We understand that there are times that students must be checked out of school for appointments. If your child has an appointment, you must arrive at the office before 2:30 pm to check your child out of school. If you arrive after 2:30 pm, you must wait until dismissal at 3:00 pm. We follow this procedure because it is very disruptive for students to check out during the final 30 minutes of school, when teachers are trying to prepare for dismissal. It is also difficult for the office staff to manage the requests for dismissal after 2:30 pm, due to their responsibilities in preparing for dismissal. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Early dismissals from school should be made with prior arrangements with the teacher or office staff based on limited and valid reasons, such as a doctor's appointments. When possible, appointments should be scheduled at times that do not interfere with instructional time.

Car Pool and Traffic Safety Reminders

We really need and appreciate everyone’s support with making safe and responsible choices. Note and follow posted restricted turn times both in and out of the Lake Boone entrance.

  1. Please have carpool hang tag easily visible in the car window (PM only)
  2. Pull all the way down to the end of the loading area when dropping off or picking up students.
  3. Students need to be ready (with book bag, lunch money etc.) to get out without delay (AM). They need to stand still, watch for their car and walk down the sidewalk to the car (PM).
  4. Please limit cell phone use especially when the line is moving. Safety Patrol students are to watch cars coming towards them as they assist with loading and unloading.
  5. Please do not make a left turn into the parking lot from Lake Boone or a left turn when leaving carpool and turning onto Lake Boone. This safety rule MUST be followed between 8:00 – 3:30 daily ~Margaret Bunn, School Counselor & Car Pool Staff~

Medicine

If your child needs any type of medication for this school year, please bring the medication (with pharmacy label attached) along with a 1702 form that’s been signed by both you and the doctor. We will not be able to accept any medication without the signed 1702. A new form is required every year.

BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR VOLUNTEERS

If you have not already done so, please stop by the main office and take a few minutes to do your background check for this school year. There is a laptop available in the Volunteer Office throughout the school day for your use. You must update your information each year. You need to be cleared as a volunteer in order to work in the classroom or attend a field trip with your child’s class. Any questions, please contact Tish Hamilton at 919-881-4920.
