BIO: Kristofer Snader

Since July 2002, Mr. Snader has served as the Sr. Director of Government Relations for Nationwide. In that position, he is primarily responsible for all government affairs activities involving all aspects of Nationwide Enterprise including insurance and financial services in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Mr. Snader currently serves on the Insurance Federation of Pennsylvania Life and Health Steering Committee, the Property and Casualty Steering Committee, and is a member of the PIPAC Board of Directors. In addition, he also serves on the Board of Nationwide’s state Political Action Committee, the board of the PA Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association and the Pennsylvania Association of Government Relations.

Prior to joining Nationwide, Mr. Snader served under Governors Ridge and Schweiker as the Director of Legislative Affairs for the Pennsylvania Insurance Department for over five years. In that position, Mr. Snader served in the Executive Office and was the primary member of staff responsible for coordinating and advocating the Department’s legislative efforts before the Pennsylvania General Assembly.

Before joining the Insurance Department, Mr. Snader served as the Director of Government Affairs for the Professional Insurance Agents Association of Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware (PIA). In that position, he assisted in the development of the legislative agenda, tracked legislation and regulations, and actively lobbied the Pennsylvania and Delaware General Assemblies as well as the Pennsylvania Congressional Delegation.

An honor graduate of the Penn State University, Mr. Snader remains active in the PSU Alumni Association and has previously served as an alumni mentor for college and high school students.

In his career, he has successfully advocated numerous legislative initiatives including viatical settlement regulation, managed care reform, commercial property and casualty form and rate filing deregulation, countersignature repeal, Workers’ Compensation Security Fund reform, managed care insurer risk-based capital requirements, CHIP expansion, health insurance portability legislation, and banking and insurance legislation.
