Family Support Changes – Support Coordination for Individuals in the DDD Interim System

Please be aware that the attached announcement reflects changes to your DDD/Community Services Family Support contacts for individuals assigned to Support Coordination Interim System beginning February 13, 2017. The document identifies the Family Support worker who receives the initial Family Support request based upon the county where the individual resides.

Housing Opportunities

Egg Harbor, Atlantic county Apartment Opportunity

The Division of Developmental Disabilities has two (2), one (1) bedroom, apartment units in a HUD 811 tax credit project in Egg Harbor, Atlantic county. Both units will have HUD 811 rent vouchers attached to them and are for low income Division eligible individuals. A link describing the income limit information can be found at All apartments are on the ground level and are fully accessible. The developer is seeking applications to lease the units as quickly as possible.

Please note that this opportunity relates to availability of housing and rental voucher only and does not include services. Successful applicants will need to ensure that they have adequate supports through their current individual budgets before moving forward with the lease process.

State Rental Assistance Open Enrollment March 6 Thru March 10

The State of New Jersey Rental Assistance Program (SRAP) will be accepting pre-applications March 6, 2017 through March 10, 2017. SRAP is a state funded program that provides housing subsidies on behalf of extremely low-income persons for decent, safe and sanitary housing. Persons applying must meet all applicable SRAP income and eligibility requirements. Pre-applications for housing assistance will be accepted from extremely low-income individuals and households based on the income limits established by HUD. You must be eighteen (18) years of age or older to apply, or be an emancipated minor. Only one (1) pre-application per household will be accepted.

Pre-applications will be accepted ONLINE only. The open enrollment period isMonday, March 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. to Friday, March 10, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.Because pre-applications will be selected through a lottery process, it does not matter when you submit your pre-application as long as you submit your pre-application during the open enrollment period. Every pre-application submitted during the open enrollment period has a chance of being selected during the lottery.

Planning For Adult Life – Opportunity Expo

As shared in the Supervisor Meeting. Attached please find information regarding The Planning for Adult Life (PFAL) program Opportunity Expo. PFAL is for students 14-21 with developmental disabilities and their families to help with transitioning to the adult service system. These events hope to connect students and their families with the programs and services that will be needed in the individual's adult life. If you are interested in being an exhibitor at any of their Opportunity Expos please follow the information provided on the attached flier.

Employment Information Update

As discussed at the Support Coordinator Supervisor meeting on January 26, we are working on a project looking at employment outcomes for people in our service system, and we need your help in making sure the data we have in iRecord is up to date. Please ensure that your Support Coordinators review all employment-related information in iRecord to ensure that it is accurate and up-to-date for the individuals with whom your agency works, and double-check wages for those making minimum wage as it is now $8.44/hour (as of January 1).This is a reminder to please complete this update no later than March 1, 2017.

Trainings and Webinars

Supported Housing –Support Coordinator Training

This training, specifically designed for Support Coordinators, will discuss how to utilize Supportive Housing Association’s (SHA’s) recently published housing guide:The Journey to Community Housing with Supportsto assist individuals with I/DD and their families in accessing community housing and supports in New Jersey. This housing guide, designed specifically for individuals with disabilities and their families was funded by a grant from The New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities and developed by the Supportive Housing Association of NJ (SHA) with Autism New Jersey as a partner. This training will be presented by Deborah Wehrlen, Consultant and President of DTW Consulting Group, LLC.

This training will be held onThursday March 16, 2017 from 2-4pm.
