Movie Line-Up for 2013

1.The Lorax—Universal Studios—6/7--This animated adaptation of the incisive Dr. Seuss classic features the voice of Danny DeVito as the Lorax, a forest-dwelling creature who labors to prevent the short-sighted Once-ler from decimating the environment in order to turn a profit.

2.Alice In Wonderland—Walt Disney—6/14 (Johnny Depp)--A 19-year-old Alice (Mia Wasikowska) journeys through Underland, where she experiences strange ordeals and encounters peculiar characters, including the vaporous Cheshire Cat (voiced by Stephen Fry), the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) and the sadistic Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter). Anne Hathaway, Alan Rickman, Matt Lucas and Crispin Glover co-star in this inventive, Golden Globe-nominated adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic.

3.Legend—6/21--Jack lives peacefully in a mythical forest with animals and goblins until fate leads him to battle a host of terrors to rescue a captive unicorn. If he loses, the world plunges into an eternal ice age.

4.Oz the Great and Powerful—Disney—6/28--In this prequel to The Wizard of Oz, circus magician Oscar Diggs is magically transported to the Land of Oz, where he deals with three witches and uses his illusionist skills and resourcefulness to become the wizard the residents have been expecting.

6.The Goonies—Warner Brothers—7/12--A group of misfit children discovers a pirate-treasure map and embarks on a journey to find the riches in this beloved 1980s classic. Along the way, they battle curmudgeonly crooks and squabble with one another in their quest for fortune.

7.Brave—Disney--7/19 --Scottish princess Merida uses her archery skills to establish her independence, but when she accidentally angers the ancient land's three powerful lords and is granted a poorly conceived wish by a witch, she must go on a quest to repair the damage.

8.Rise of the Guardians—Disney—7/26 --In this animated adventure, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman and Jack Frost come together to battle Pitch, a malicious spirit determined to take over the world and destroy the innocent beliefs and dreams of children.

9.Escape from planet Earth—Wienstein Company—8/2--This all-ages animated comedy follows the adventures of astronaut Scorch Supernova, a hero of the blue aliens who has a vast appetite for adventure. Ignoring his brother's warning, Scorch sets off on a deep-space rescue that proves to be a trap.

10.Absent Minded Professor—8/9--Fred MacMurray stars in this comedy classic as Professor Brainard, an inventive but forgetful college instructor who uses Flubber -- a chemical that "lifts" anyone who ingests it -- to perform many wonders. Among many other feats, Professor Brainard is able to boost the basketball team, make a car fly and save his beloved Medfield College! Ed Wynn, Keenan Wynn and Nancy Olson also star in this beloved Disney film.

11.ParaNorman—8/16--When an army of zombies invades a small town, it's up to an odd local boy with a knack for communicating with the dead to save the day. But judgmental adults prove to be even more formidable adversaries.

12.The Hobbit—New Line Productions—8/23--Beloved hobbit Bilbo Baggins is back in a visually spectacular tale inspired by The Lord of the Rings and likewise directed by Peter Jackson. Joining the effort to free the Kingdom of Erebor, Bilbo also faces a fateful encounter with Gollum.

13.Hotel Transylvania—Columbia Pictures—8/30--Hotel Transylvania owner Dracula (Adam Sandler) pulls double duty as an overprotective dad when an unwelcome suitor (Andy Samberg) shows interest in his teenage daughter (Selena Gomez). All the while, he's hosting world-famous monster guests like Frankenstein, his bride and a werewolf family.
