Facilities
Among our group we have several laboratories with considerable test equipment which we will apply to this project. In addition, we have virtually free access to process equipment for 3D integration. We will also be collaborating with local industry (Technosciences Inc., a description of some of the facilities is given below.
- Fully shielded anechoic chamber covering the frequency range 30MHz to
- 30GHz.
- Vector Network Analyzer (45MHz to 50GHz) with more than 110dB dynamic
- range and time-domain option.
- Microwave sources (25MHz to 50GHz)
- Spectrum analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes, and variety of test
- antennas.
- Variety of full-wave three-dimensional electromagnetic simulation and
- analysis computational tools.
- 4.0 GHz real time oscilloscope
- RF probe station
- Printed Circuit Board milling machine
- Suite of design software including: Cadence, Ansys, LASI, Silvaco, and our own specialized codes for EM modeling, device and circuit modeling and 3D integration.
- 802.11 wireless network modules and access points
- Numerous computers (PC’s and workstations)
The following equipment is available to us through our ongoing collaboration with the Laboratory of Physical Sciences adjacent to the University of Maryland. Much of this equipment is specialized for 3D integration.
- High Aspect ratio plasma etcher

TSi Facilities Facilities (Industrial Colloborator)
Techno-Sciences, Inc.'s (TSi's) principal office is at 10001 Derekwood Lane,
Lanham, MD, near the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and the University of
Maryland. We have good in-house computer facilities including a network of
high performance personal computers. Each engineer also has an advanced
portable computer. In house software includes most advanced engineering
design software, including compilers and assemblers for most high-level
languages, and extensive numerical libraries of numerical subroutines. We
also have advanced programming tools such as Matlab, including the Real-Time
Toolbox, FEMLAB, Mathematica, Maple, DSP programming tools, and TSi's
proprietary software packages TSiDynamics, TSiControls, and TSiProPAC for
multi-body modeling, and real-time digital control CAD systems. We have a
full 3-D CAD system for development of technical drawings. TSi also has
electronic equipment, CNC machine shop and laboratory space for building
prototype systems for benchmark studies as the need arises. TSi also has
equipment for fiber-optic splicing, optical spectrum analyzer and high
bandwidth strain measurement. Additionally, TSi also has several solutions
for high speed data acquisition. TSi has two MPC-565 development boards and
phyCORE modules from Phytec and the tools necessary to seamlessly port
Matlab/SIMULINK and Stateflow code directly to the MPC-565. TSi has
laboratory facilities for both signal processing and systems development,
and for mechanical system design and development.
