Curriculum and Instruction
Tuesday Telegram works hard to not repeat items or make mistakes. But it happens. So please note the following changes about these important events.
- The DPS Faculty and Staff Art Exhibit’s date for picking up artwork is May 2 (not March 2). Corrected flyer is attached.
- The New Teacher Technology Night’s flyer has changed in light of district budgeting.

Substitute teacher applications on hold until 2003-2004 school year
Denver Public Schools will no longer accept substitute teacher applications for the remainder of the 2002-2003 school year. The DPS online application pool currently has many qualified applicants should the need arise to hire more substitutes before the end of this school year.
The current pool of substitute teachers is large enough that we have been able to meet over 99% of the vacancies posted on our substitute teacher system (SEMS). Applicants who have already applied and have not heard from our office by mid-March 2003 were not selected for an interview this school year. We encourage them to reapply when we reopen these positions in August. Please be sure to check out the website this summer at under “Job Opportunities” to see updated information.
The new substitute teacher policies effective Feb. 1, 2003, are available online at Contact your assigned generalist should you experience problems or need help with a substitute teacher issue.

Student Services
The United States’ possible move to a military conflict or large scale war may add to people’s distress, especially children who may fear that military action overseas will result in more personal loss and violence here at home.
The National Association of School Psychologists offers resources for helping children cope. Click here for links to the following resources:
