Non Synod members may be nominated for the Vacancy in See Committee and Board of Education only

Notes for Elections

1.  Candidates may stand in all categories. However if elected as Chair of the House then they are automatically members of the Bishop’s Council and the Vacancy in the See Committee.

2.  If elections are contested then voting will take place at the Meeting of Houses at the Synod on November 10th. Voting will be restricted to those attending the meeting.

3.  If elections are contested then each of those who are standing in any category will have two minutes to introduce themselves before the vote.

4.  If a candidate is unable to attend then they may nominate someone to introduce them. If you know you are unable to attend then you might wish to contact someone to undertake this for you now.

5.  Voting will be first past the post. Where there are several vacancies then people may vote for as many candidates as are standing up to the number of vacancies.

6.  Individuals standing for the Vacancy in the See Committee and the Board of Education need not be members of the Diocesan Synod. A notice has gone in the Bulletin stating this. However they would be well advised to attend the Synod and will have an opportunity to speak as outlined in Item 3.

7.  Email or Faxed nomination forms will be accepted if received by noon on November 8th. However the signed nomination form must be submitted to the Synod Secretariat by 11.00 a.m. on Saturday November 10th.

8.  The number of vacancies are as follows:

§  Chair – one vacancy

§  Bishop’s Council – three clergy & three lay members from Liverpool Archdeaconry and three clergy & three lay members from Warrington Archdeaconry

§  Board of Education – two clergy & two lay members from Liverpool Archdeaconry and two clergy & two lay members from Warrington Archdeaconry

§  Finance Committee – three clergy and six laity

§  Vacancy in the See Committee – two clergy and four laity
